Although Chelsea have brought in Fernando Torres and David Luiz, the team still lacks something.

It is not the the old Chelsea where we saw them swoop the double last season. This season is coming to an end and manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted defeat in defending Chelsea's Premier League for this season. His focus now is to cement themselves in the fourth place. This summer could be the most crucial time for Chelsea as they will try to reinforce their squad for the next season.

Here are some players that would bolster the squad immensely

Romelu Lukaku

In his early years, Romelu Lukaku did reject bids from Arsenal and Chelsea. However, he has always insisted in following the footsteps of his hero, Didier Drogba. The Anderlecht wonder kid will make a big hit if he comes to Chelsea. Fans have previously quoted that he could be the next Didier Drogba should the latter leave Chelsea for his former club Marseille in the summer. Lukaku could fit in well with Fernando Torres for a new mix of chemistry next season.

Neymar Da Silva

Neymar da Silva has been target for Chelsea for almost two seasons now and Santos even rejected a bid from Chelsea last season. To add disappointment for Chelsea, Neymar signed a five deal contract deal recently with his Brazillian club. In order for Chelsea to bring the starlet to Stamford Bridge, Roman Abromovich must pay a large quantum of pounds. But nothing is impossible when it comes to the Russian Billionaire ans his financial abilities considering that he has already slapped in £50mil for Fernando Torres who is struggling to find form at his new home. But when the new UEFA financial ruling is introduced, Abromovich could deprived from his usual spending hobby.

Ricardo Kaka

According to multiple sports websites, Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite also known as Kaka is on his way out of Real Madrid in the summer. The 28 year old has failed to impress since his moved to the Bernabeu for £56mil. Clubs like AC Milan, Manchester City, and Chelsea are reportedly interested in the midfielder. Manchester City has the money to bring him but AC Milan and Chelsea has better chances of bringing him in. The choice is his whether to pick Chelsea, managed by his former boss or Milan where he has friends from the past. Old manager or old club?

Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin de Bruyne, the Belgian winger is also linked with the Blues. The 19 year old Racing Genk player has already received a number of bids in the past from Arsenal and Everton. Although he is young and talented, fans have claimed that he is not the “Chelsea material”. His strengths are like just any other talented players such as the passing, the shooting, and the ability to play with both legs. And he has the ability to score direct from a free kick. A replacement for Drogba, I guess? Nevertheless, any talented player added to the squad is always a boost for the team.

Edison Cavani

Chelsea are reportedly chasing Napoli striker Edison Cavani as another choice for long-term successor for Didier Drogba. Chelsea are believed to have strong interest that they are prepared to go all out to get him, starting with a bid of £20mil. Abromovich sees Cavani forming an exciting strike-partnership with Fernando Torres next season should the attempt to bring the striker in meets success.

Alexis Sanchez

Another Chelsea target is the Udinese wonder boy, Alexis Sanchez. He has proven his worth at Udinese and looks to be rewarded with a chance to play at a big club like Chelsea. Sanchez was playing as a left winger when the Little Zebras brought him in, but this season he's shifted into the hole, playing behind front man Antonio Di Natale. This is definitely the “Chelsea material” we are looking for. Sanchez will be the one feeding the ball to Torres if he comes to Chelsea.

Phillip Mexes

Despite rumours linking Roma defender Philippe Mexes with a move to Arsenal this January, it has emerged that Chelsea are also interested. Chelsea were thought to have him as a backup plan during the January transfer should the plan to acquire David Luiz failed. But since it did not, Mexes has been left out. Looking out this summer, Chelsea may need another defender to partner the Brazilian wonder Luiz or the evergreen Terry. Defensive options may not be a problem next season.

Sergio Ramos

Sergio Ramos has had a falling out with Real's best player Cristiano Ronaldo, and as a result has asked to be transferred. Ramos has been one of Real's top performers since signing for the club from Sevilla for £23mil in 2005. Ramos has also performed brilliantly for Spain in the FIFA World Cup last year which they won. As a result of the rumours that he cannot see eye to eye with Ronaldo, Ramos has immediately been linked to English Premier League teams Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal, according to Soccernet. Chelsea will have the best opportunity in the summer as Jose Bosingwa plans to leave the Blues. Ramos is most needed when Bosingwa leaves as Paulo Ferreira’s years are almost over.
