Manchester United midfielder recalled after good end to season
Michael Carrick sustained knock in Champions League final

Michael Carrick has pulled out of the England squad to face Switzerland on Saturday, the Football Association has announced.

The Manchester United midfielder, who was recalled by Fabio Capello after some improved performances in the final weeks of his club's title-winning season, missed training on Tuesday.

He had suffered a knock playing in the Champions League final defeat against Barcelona at Wembley last Saturday and will now miss another chance to play at the national stadium.

After further examination by England's medical staff it has been decided to release Carrick back to Old Trafford for treatment, leaving Capello with 24 remaining members of his squad.

England are level on points with Montenegro at the top of Group G in the race for places at Euro 2012.
