EPL: Tottenham Hotspur vs Wigan Athletic—Match Preview

This Saturday, Spurs travel to the DW Stadium to face Wigan Athletic. Tottenham is 2-0-2 so far in Premier League play, having a boost in performance since new arrivals Scott Parker and Emmanuel Adebayor joined up at the end of the summer transfer window.

Wigan currently sit in 15th spot in the Premier League, having won one, drawn two and lost two. The Latics will look forward to this weekend's game in their home stadium, and hope the crowd will thrust them into a second win of the season.

Two in form goal scorers will be the ones to watch at the DW on Saturday.

Franco Di Santo has scored all but one of his teams Premier League goals so far this season. The Argentine will surely try to make an impact in front of the home crowd. His athleticism and guided deflections have produced the goods so far this season, and will no doubt keep the Tottenham defense busy.

Emmanuel Adebayor has scored three goals in two games for Tottenham, and seems to be the answer to their striking problems of last year. If I were a betting man, which I'm not, I'd put some down on Adebayor to score against Wigan.

Tottenham are missing a few of their first team players, including Michael Dawson, Tom Huddlestone and Aaron Lennon.

As long as King and Kaboul stay fit enough to play the whole game, Dawson will be missed but not needed. With Scott Parker and Sandro to chose from, Huddlestone can take as long as he'd like.

Aaron Lennon will be missed, given the performances he has put in over the last couple seasons. Dos Santos and some of the youngsters will gladly step up in his place, though.

The biggest injury concern for Wigan is the loss of Honduran Hugo Rodallega. Who really knows how long he's going to be out?

If any team needs goals and doesn't need to be losing strikers, it's the Wigan team of the last few seasons. Especially at home, they will miss one of their goal scorers.

So far this season, my predictions have been way off. But what the heck, I'll throw out another one.

I predict 2-0 to Spurs. It's not going to be pretty, but three points is three points.
