January Transfer Window: Best Early Christmas Present for Every EPL Team

0 of 20

    Santa's not just for kids.

World football's transfer window is approaching fast, and with it comes the Christmas season.

What better way to celebrate both than by combining the two?

That's exactly what we're doing here. Today, we're giving you each Premiership team's Christmas list for the upcoming transfer window.

Which team needs what? Which teams are after the biggest players?

    We've got it all here.

1. Manchester City

1 of 20

    Target: Neymar (Santos)

OK, so Neymar has reportedly agreed in principle to sign with Real Madrid next summer. But until pen touches paper on an actual deal, we think he's still fair game.

Manchester City don't need any new players. They lead the Premiership table by five points and have scored 39 goals in 11 matches.

But they've been linked with Neymar, and anybody would love to sign him.

2. Manchester United

2 of 20

    Target: Wesley Sneijder (Inter)

Sneijder-to-United was probably the most tiresome transfer saga of last summer's transfer window.

It didn't happen then, but it could still happen in the future.

United have lacked spark in the offensive third lately, and Sneijder could be just the man to provide it.

3. Newcastle United

3 of 20

    Target: Liam Ridgewell (Birmingham City)

Newcastle are still unbeaten through 11 games, thanks in part to a defense that has conceded only seven goals.

But while the defense has performed well, you can never have too many good defenders.

Enter Newcastle target Liam Ridgewell of Birmingham City. The former England U-21 international is rated at £2 million, which sounds like a smart deal for Newcastle.

4. Chelsea

4 of 20

    Target: Christian Eriksen (Ajax)

He's earned the admiration of Johan Cruyff. Surrounded by the talent at Chelsea, we think he could thrive.

He's Christian Eriksen, Ajax's Danish winger. He's valued at £30 million and he's being chased by Chelsea.

5. Tottenham Hotspur

5 of 20

    Target: David Beckham (LA Galaxy)

David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy will play in MLS Cup on Nov. 20. After that, Beckham's contract is up.

He's been linked with just about every club in the world, but Tottenham Hotspur seems like one of the more realistic destinations.

6. Liverpool

6 of 20

    Target: Eden Hazard (Lille)

Poor Liverpool. Wasn't this supposed to be their breakthrough season?

For every good performance (2-0 win at Arsenal), there's been a disappointing counterpart (0-0 this past weekend at home to Swansea).

The Reds and Kenny Dalglish need a spark. Whenever Steven Gerrard is out, they look toothless.

We suggest Eden Hazard, the Lille midfielder and Liverpool target.

The only problem is that a bunch of clubs are after him…

7. Arsenal

7 of 20

    Target: Eden Hazard (Lille)

    …including Arsenal (and others, really).

Arsenal have recovered from their disastrous start and now sit seventh in the table. Their 3-0 win over West Brom last weekend took their goal differential above zero, and the defense finally looks sorted out with the return of Thomas Vermaelen.

Now they need to keep strengthening for a sustained run at getting back in the top four.

We think Hazard would be a game-changing addition.

8. Aston Villa

8 of 20

    Target: Dennis Diekmeier (Hamburg)

Aston Villa serve as the paragon of midtable mediocrity. They have drawn an astounding six of their 11 matches and have outscored their opposition 16-15.

    They need some creativity.

How about...um...OK, so they're not being linked to anyone creative. But they are being linked to German defender Dennis Diekmeier of Hamburg.

    Sounds good to us.

9. Norwich City

9 of 20

Target: Kyle Naughton (already with team on loan from Tottenham)

Norwich are ninth! How about that?

To keep it up, they're going to need some reinforcements. Manager Paul Lambert is being tight-lipped about Norwich's January transfer targets, but he did say he won't make any "panic buys."

One way to strengthen the squad would be to sign Kyle Naughton permanently. The English defender joined on a season-long loan from Tottenham in the summer and has made 10 league appearances.

10. Swansea City

10 of 20

    Target: Josh McEachran (Chelsea)

Swansea are a surprising entry in the top half of the table, and to stay there, manager Brendan Rodgers knows he'll have to strengthen his squad in January.

To do that, he might look to his former club, Chelsea. Rodgers has confirmed his interest in taking Chelsea's Josh McEachran, 18, on loan.

11. Queens Park Rangers

11 of 20

    Target: David Beckham (LA Galaxy)

QPR have also been linked with a move for David Beckham.

    It's a longshot, but it's not impossible.

12. Stoke City

12 of 20

    Target: Michael Uchebo (VVV Venlo)

Stoke already have 6'7" striker Peter Crouch in their lineup.

Now they're after Michael Uchebo, the 6'5" striker who plays for Dutch club VVV Venlo.

Mail Online reckons a deal is pretty close too.

    Imagine that front line.

13. Wolverhampton Wanderers

13 of 20

    Target: Graham Cummins (Cork City)

Playing on a tight budget means Wolves have to scour the region for talent.

Today they're being linked with Cork City striker Graham Cummins. Express & Star says Wolves have offered Cummins a one-week trial.

14. West Bromwich Albion

14 of 20

    Target: Liam Ridgewell (Birmingham City)

West Brom are the other club interested in signing Ridgewell.

They tried and failed back in the summer.

15. Sunderland

15 of 20

    Target: Giovanni Sio (Sion)

Weren't Sunderland supposed to challenge for Europe this year?

Then why are they in 15th place?

A tough schedule has been one issue: The Black Cats have already faced Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Defense has been another: Sunderland have kept only three clean sheets.

Never mind that, though. Manager Steve Bruce is after Giovanni Sio, a striker currently playing for Swiss side Sion.

16. Fulham

16 of 20

    Target: Mounir El Hamdaoui (Ajax)

Fulham manager Martin Jol has signed El Hamdaoui twice.

He's keen to make it three this winter. We reckon it could happen.

17. Everton

17 of 20

    Suggested target: Landon Donovan

Let us be clear: This isn't a rumor. We just think Everton should sign Donovan on loan again.

It worked well for everybody last time.

And Everton clearly need the help.

    Why not?

18. Bolton Wanderers

18 of 20

Targets: Raheem Sterling and Jon Flanagan

Caught Offside say Bolton are lining up a double swoop for Liverpool's Sterling (pictured) and Flanagan.

Really, Bolton would probably take anyone

19. Blackburn Rovers

19 of 20

    Target: A new manager

Blackburn are 19th in the table.

The fans are fed up with Steve Kean.

We feel bad for Keen, but we also understand the fans' frustration.

20. Wigan Athletic

20 of 20

    Dream: Charles N'Zogbia back

Wigan are at rock bottom of the table.

They're not being linked with a move for anyone right now. That's probably because nobody wants to go there.

Right now, the best the Latics can hope for is the return of N'Zogbia.

Hey, he's not exactly lighting it up at Villa, is he?
