Arsenal V Everton: 5 Bold Predictions for Premier League Clash at the Emirates

0 of 5

Arsenal have scored more goals against Everton than any team versus any opponent in Premier League history with 79 goals.

It looks set to be another long weekend for Evertonians.

After last weekends stinker against Stoke, Everton will take anything they can get at one of their most unhappy hunting grounds in the Premier League.

Arsenal have bounced back from a woeful start to the season and are now fifth in the table, two points off fourth-placed Chelsea.

This weekend's match at the Emirates promises to be a tasty affair, as Everton will be looking to bounce-back from a poor performance and Arsenal will be looking to continue their strong run of form towards the festive period.

Here are five bold, I can't stress that enough, predictions for the game on Saturday.

Van Persie Does Not Score

1 of 5

The only bold prediction you can really make with Arsenal at the moment is that their flying Dutchman, Robin Van Persie, doesn't score.

Van Persie may be scoring for fun at the moment but he hasn't scored in the Premier League against Everton since the 1-1 draw at Goodison Park in 2009.

This is probably clutching at statistical straws as Van Persie is course to score the most goals in a Premier League calender year as he's scored 32 in 31 games and needs four more to equal Alan Shearer's record.

Lets hope his Everton goal drought continues.

Leighton Baines Does Score

2 of 5

Consistently Everton's best performer, left-back Leighton Baines had a bit of an off game by his high standards against Stoke last week.

With Arsenal's injury woe at both full-back positions, if Everton stand any chance of getting some points at the Emirates they must exploit the Gooners on the wings.

Sounds like a perfect game for Baines to further stake his claim as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League.

Arteta Has a Blinder

3 of 5

When Mikel Arteta left Everton, I harboured no hard feelings towards the Spanish midfielder.

Pushing 30, with his history of injuries, £10 million seemed like a fair price.

Arsenal seem to have gotten themselves a bargain as Arteta has found his best form for the Gunners, and has added the experience their midfield needed.

According to Opta, Arteta has completed more passes in his opponents half than any other player in the Premier League and he's scored four times from just seven shots.

Playing against his old club may add a bit more inspiration for Arteta and coming off a goal against Wigan last weekend, expect Arteta to be at his best.

Ross Barkley Plays a Part

4 of 5

Anybody else starting to wonder where Ross Barkley has disappeared to?

At the start of the season Everton fans where salivating at the sight of this youngster, as Barkley was tipped as one of the future stars of the Premier League.

The midfielder was last spotted for the final two minutes against Bolton a fortnight ago and following the creatively lacking performance against Stoke last week, some Everton fans are hoping Moyes gives Barkley a chance against Arsenal.

Everton Get at Least a Point

5 of 5

Everton's travels to the Emirates Stadium have been largely unsuccessful, as the Blues have only recorded two draws in their five games in the red half of North London—so predicting points is a bold choice.

With Arsenal's full-back injuries, Everton will look to play with pace down the flanks. Also, they will try to keep the ball out of the middle of the field where Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey have been brilliant so far this season.

An Arsenal reserve team lost to Olympiakos in the Champions League on Wednesday, so Everton can't even hope for the European hangover to help them out.

Arsenal have really turned their season around after the 8-2 humiliation at Old Trafford and Arsenal haven't lost in six Premier League games against the Toffee's. So, if Everton get anything from this game, it will be a bonus.
