Premier League Transfers: Top 5 Rumours of the Day

0 of 5

January and the transfer window are less than a month away. That means every day is a big day for transfer news.

Today has been no exception. All sorts of rumours filled newspapers and web pages, from the realistic to the comical to the absurd.

No one knows for sure if any of these will happen, but most of them are fun to think about.

Without further delay, here are five of the biggest rumours we've seen today.

Wolves Want Arsenal Duo

1 of 5

Remember when we said some of these were comical? This is what we were talking about.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy says he wants to sign young starlets Emmanuel Frimpong and Francis Coquelin from Arsenal.

"If it can be done, we'll do it."

    We bet you will, Mick.

Here's another link. Both of those stories seem to think permanent moves are possible. Surely they jest.

Frimpong and Coquelin both have bright futures at Arsenal. Even if they do decide to leave, it's not going to be for Wolves.

    OK—maybe on loan. Maybe.

Anelka to China

2 of 5

This sounds like something Nicolas Anelka would do, doesn't it?

Several news outlets (Mirror Football, the Telegraph and the Independent, to name three) are reporting that Nicolas Anelka is ready for a move to Chinese club Shaghai Shenhua.

Word is that Shenhua want to pay him £6 million over three years.

    We think he should go.

Tevez to Milan Latest

3 of 5

It's not news that AC Milan are interested in Manchester City's want-away forward Carlos Tevez.

The latest news, however, is that the Italian giants have made a formal approach. Apparently, Milan vice president Adriano Galliani said that Milan have sent an offer to Manchester City that would send Tevez to Milan on loan in January. A permanent move would follow in the summer.

    Here's what Galliani said:

Between yesterday and today I have taken steps to reinforce a team that is already a formidable one. We have the agreement with Tevez and we recently sent an email to City with our offer.

Our offer is a free loan deal with an option to sign the player permanently on certain conditions. We hope City says yes. There were other European clubs interested, but we are in pole position.

Tevez wants to come to us. Half of the agreement has been reached. Now we await City's response.

Sounds like Tevez is on his way across the Alps.

Juventus Chasing Chelsea Two

4 of 5

With word filtering down around the football world that Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is planning a winter fire sale, perhaps it's no surprise the Blues are getting lots of offers.

The rumour mill is suggesting that two more offers have come in from Juventus, who want David Luiz and Alex.

The Italian giants are reportedly willing to offer £2 million for Alex and £15 million for David Luiz.

Chelsea Closing on Cahill?

Finally, here's a rumour that involves Chelsea buying somebody.

The Blues have been after Bolton defender Gary Cahill for some time now, as have a number of other English clubs.

The latest news is that Chelsea might be willing to send out teen star Josh McEachran on loan to persuade Bolton to sell.
