January Transfer Window: 15 Players Teams Are Sure to Overpay for

0 of 15

The transfer window is just over three weeks away and the rumor mill is cooking as fast as ever with the suggestions of this player and that player going here, there and everywhere.

Many clubs are for sure set to be buying come January, but the real issue is going to be the price tag and the prices paid for the players this term.

The last few transfer windows have seen the inflation of player values go through the roof even more than before. And it is likely to be more of the same this coming January.

That fact has many believing that while there will be movement it is certainly to be for high price tags.

Please note all estimated values are from transfermarket.co.uk.

Mario Goetze

1 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £26 million

Most likely Sale Value: £35 million

While Borussia Dortmund's Mario Goetze is without a doubt talented, there is most certainly a bidding war to be had for his services during the January window.

His skill is certainly worth a large sum but it is more than likely set to be increased drastically.

Javi Martinez

2 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £17.5 million

Most likely Sale Value: £34 million

Athletic Bilboa's hard working Spanish U21 national captain Javi Martinez is one of the best Young midfield prospects in Spain.

Currently he is subject to major interest from Manchester City, Chelsea and other EPL teams according to the Daily Mail.

Neymar

3 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £27 million

Most likely Sale Value: £50+ million

Brazilian wonder Neymar of Santos is perhaps one of the most over hyped players in the world at the moment.

He has been rumored to have signed with multiple clubs for fees of well over £50 million. One move had him going to Real Madrid for £53 million according to ESPN while Caughtoffside had him making the most for a total combined deal of £150 million.

Wilfried Zaha

4 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £650,000

Most likely Sale Value: £3 million

Stoke City are rumored to be thinking of a major offer for Crystal Palace youth star Wilfried Zaha with a reported £3 million offer on the table according to the Daily Mirror.

Robin Van Persie

5 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £26.5 million

Most likely Sale Value: £40 million

The Daily Mirror reports that Arsenal's Robin van Persie could be the subject of at least a £30 million to £35 million transfer bid from Manchester City, but in reality if the Gunners were to sell him it will be for I would think at least £40 million.

Gary Cahill

6 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £11 million

Most likely Sale Value: £20 million

Bolton Wanderers center half Gary Cahill looks to be the most sought after English defender this winter, just as everyone thought he was back in the summer. Most likely he will go for nearly double his value in a bidding war, or will go cheaper if there is a player involved.

Gabriel Torje

7 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £6.5 million

Most likely Sale Value: £18 million

Arsenal are reported to be looking at a £20 million move for Udinese play maker Gabriel Torje according to the Daily Mirror. The short stature midfielder is thought to be the Romanian version of Lionel Messi and his current club hope to market that to their greatest advantage to get a great deal for him.

Ross Barkley

8 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £650,000

Most likely Sale Value: £15 million

Everton midfield youth sensation is thought to be the next big Toffee export in the mold of when Wayne Rooney left for Manchester United.

Chelsea have already been thought to be readying a £20 million offer according to the Daily Mail.

Milos Krasic

9 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £17.5 million

Most likely Sale Value: £24 million

While Juventus wideman Milos Krasic has since tried to squash any rumors of transferring out of Turin, it is still more than possibly that he is sold on in January with Chelsea believed to be one of the many possible suitors according to the Guardian.

Hulk

10 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £27.5 million

    Most likely Sale Value: £50+million

Hulk has had a ridiculous price tag of £88 million slapped on him by current club FC Porto based on reports from sport.uk.msn. Honestly, if any team pays that they are insane. There is no way he is worth that much.

Eden Hazard

11 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £20 million

Most likely Sale Value: £43 million

Real Madrid have reportedly already had a major offer of £43 million accepted by Lille. The Daily Mail reported that number in late November but there is still no confirmation and will most likely not be until January.

Carlos Tevez

12 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £30 million

Most likely Sale Value: £35 million

Manchester City are going to be doing all they can to get rid of Carlos Tevez come the January transfer window. But honestly, no matter who takes him, be it Paris Saint Germain on loan as the Guardian believes, or another club, anyone that pays for him is most likely overpaying for a player that will leave the dressing room in a tizzy.

Fernando Llorente

13 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £17.5 million

Most likely Sale Value: £25 million

While he has been a little under the radar as of late Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente Torres could still be a major target of Tottenham, as he was in the summer, or any other major club for what could be a large fee.

Luka Modric

14 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £29 million

Most likely Sale Value: £40 million

Tottenham's Luka Modric was believed to be headed out the door for around £40 million over the summer as Chelsea attempted to prise him away from their cross town rivals according to the Telegraph. However, if he goes in January for any price it would be a surprise.

Edinson Cavani

15 of 15

    Estimated Market Value: £21.5 million

Most likely Sale Value: £45 million

Givemefootball.com claims that Napoli frontman Edinson Cavani could be on his way to Manchester United or Chelsea if either club looks to flex their spending muscles. The Uruguayan star could be a major splash in the Premier League is he has the correct support in behind him.
