English Premier League Power Rankings: Week 15

0 of 20

Another set of games and another crazy weekend in the English Premier League.

The two hottest teams in the EPL both fell this weekend with Manchester City losing their first game at Chelsea while Tottenham lost away from home as well, at Stoke.

The losses gave Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal a chance to win the title as all three teams took wins away from the weekend.

At the bottom of the table, Sunderland won their first game with Martin O'Neill as manager by beating fellow relegation rivals Blackburn. Wigan were the only other relegation fighter to win as Bolton, Wolves, Fulham and West Brom all lost.

As always, last week's ranking is in parentheses.

20. Bolton (20)

1 of 20

Yet another weekend resulted in misery for Bolton, as they stayed at the bottom of the table.

A 2-1 loss to visiting Aston Villa was the club's fourth straight loss after their 5-0 thumping of Stoke at the beginning of November.

Ivan Klasnic scored a late goal to avoid a shutout which was the seventh goal of the year for the Croatian.

19. Blackburn (16)

2 of 20

Blackburn got their hopes up for a win on Sunday and then they were crushed in the last six minutes by Sunderland.

Rovers were unable to hold on to their one-goal lead and ended up losing 2-1 on the road at the Stadium of Light.

The loss drops the club back down to 19th in the table ahead of two relegation clashes with West Brom and Bolton this week.

18. Wolverhampton (15)

3 of 20

After breaking a three game losing streak last week with a win over Sunderland, Wolves got back to their losing ways after being beat by Manchester United on Saturday.

The 4-1 loss dropped the club to 17th place ahead of their clashes with Stoke and Norwich both at home at the Molineux Stadium this week.

17. Sunderland (19)

4 of 20

Sunderland rejuvenated their campaign in the Premier League this season with new manager Martin O'Neill getting his first win in his first game with the club.

David Vaughan scored in the 84th minute before Sebastian Larsson put home the 90th minute winner to give the Black Cats a much needed win over relegation rivals Blackburn.

Two road trips to London now await Sunderland as they visit Tottenham on Sunday and QPR next Wednesday.

16. Fulham (14)

5 of 20

Fulham were handed a loss on their trip to Wales on Saturday.

The 2-0 loss to Swansea dropped the Cottagers to 14th place in the table.

A crowded fixture list is ahead for Martin Jol and company as they have three home games in the next week starting with Odense in the Europa League on Thursday.

15. Wigan (18)

6 of 20

Wigan continued somewhat of a resurgence with their second win in three games as they beat West Brom 2-1 on Saturday.

The Latics have now earned as many points in three games as they earned in their first 12 games.

The so-called resurgence may not last long as Chelsea and Liverpool visit the DW Stadium this week.

14. Swansea City (17)

7 of 20

Swansea got back to their winning ways as they took down Fulham at home on Saturday.

Scott Sinclair and Danny Graham powered the Swans to their first win since October 29th as they both scored a goal each.

With the win, the Swans jumped up to 11th place in the table with 17 points.

13. Everton (12)

8 of 20

Everton suffered their second straight 1-0 loss on Saturday as they lost to Arsenal away at the Emirates Stadium.

The 12th-placed club will host two of the three newly-promoted this week with Norwich and Swansea visiting Goodison Park.

12. West Brom (11)

9 of 20

West Brom looked like they were cruising to victory over Wigan after a 33rd minute goal from Steven Reid, but the Baggies could not hold their lead at home on Saturday.

The loss officially enters the Baggies into the relegation race as they sit in 15th place with only 15 points, three points ahead of the 18th-placed Wigan.

11. Queens Park Rangers (10)

10 of 20

QPR's winless streak was extended to three games as they failed in gaining a point at Anfield on Saturday.

The 1-0 loss to Liverpool dropped the R's down to 13th in the table ahead of their home clash with Manchester United on Sunday.

10. Newcastle (8)

11 of 20

Newcastle's slide down the table continued as they lost on the road to Norwich in a six goal shootout on Saturday.

In the 4-2 loss at Carrow Road, Demba Ba put his season goal tally into double digits with goals in the 45th and 71st minutes to give the Senegal international 11 goals on the season.

The Magpies will look to win their first game in five games as they host Swansea on Saturday at the Sports Direct Arena.

9. Norwich City (13)

12 of 20

Norwich unleashed a four goal fury on Newcastle at home on Saturday in their 4-2 win.

Grant Holt racked up his fifth and sixth goals of the season while Steve Morison netted his sixth to tie Holt for the team lead. Wesley Hoolahan scored the opener for the Canaries.

The Canaries have been surprisingly exciting to watch all season and have been able to net three goals in three of their last eight games.

8. Aston Villa (9)

13 of 20

Aston Villa cruised to victory on the road over Bolton with a 2-1 win on Saturday.

Marc Albrighton and Stiliyan Petrov scored for the Villains as they earned their first win in over a month.

Two tough tasks await for the Villains at home this week with Liverpool visiting Villa Park on Sunday and Arsenal coming into town on Wednesday.

7. Tottenham (2)

14 of 20

Tottenham's unbeaten run came to an end at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday in a 2-1 loss to Stoke.

After going down by two, Emmanuel Adebayor was able to pull back a goal for the Spurs on a 62nd-minute penalty, but that was all the club could muster.

Spurs have a busy week ahead of them with three games starting with a visit to Ireland to face the Shamrock Rovers in the final group match of the Europa League.

6. Stoke (7)

15 of 20

Matthew Etherington powered Stoke to victory on Sunday over Spurs with two goals.

The goals were the first two of the campaign for Etherington as the Potters extended their winning streak to three games.

The Potters will rack up some mileage on their next road trip as they visit Besiktas in Turkey in Europa League play on Wednesday and then visit Wolves and Manchester City in their next two Premier League games.

5. Liverpool (6)

16 of 20

Liverpool recovered from a tough loss at Fulham last week to take down QPR at Anfield on Saturday.

Luis Suarez scored his team-leading fifth goal of the Premier League season with his 47th minute strike to win the game 1-0 for the Reds.

With the win, the Reds moved ahead of Newcastle on goal differential in the table and took sixth place.

4. Arsenal (4)

17 of 20

Arsenal rebounded nicely from a midweek Champions League loss to Olympiakos by beating Everton 1-0 at home.

The most valuable player in the Premier League so far this season, Robin van Persie scored the Gunners' only goal and eventual game winner in the 70th minute.

A huge clash with Manchester City away at the Etihad Stadium awaits the Gunners in their next game on Sunday.

3. Manchester City (1)

18 of 20

It was a rough week for Manchester City as they were knocked out of the Champions League and their unbeaten run of 14 games to start the Premier League season came to an end at the hands of Chelsea on Monday night.

Mario Balotelli's second minute goal was the only score City could manage in the 2-1 loss away at Stamford Bridge.

City have another top team in England to face on Sunday as they host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.

2. Manchester United (3)

19 of 20

Manchester United rebounded from being knocked out of the Champions League with a 4-1 trouncing of the Wolves.

Wayne Rooney and Nani both scored twice for United as they gained points on rivals Manchester City in the table and now only sit two points back of first place City.

Two visits to London are in store for the Red Devils in the next week as they visit QPR at Loftus Road on Sunday before traveling to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on Wednesday.

1. Chelsea (5)

20 of 20

    They're back.

Chelsea made a statement on Monday night by beating Manchester City that they are to be considered in the title race.

Frank Lampard was the hero at Stamford Bridge as he scored a 82nd-minute penalty to give the Blues a 2-1 win over the previously unbeaten Manchester City and it put the club only seven points behind City in the title race.

Chelsea also won during the week in the Champions League and beat Valencia handily to advance into the knockout stage of Europe's top club competition.
