Chelsea winger Florent Malouda threatens to quit Stamford Bridge over lack of first-team football
Florent Malouda has publicly expressed dissatisfaction over his lack of first-team football at Chelsea and strongly suggested that he is ready to leave in January.
Malouda has generally been a substitute at Chelsea following the summer arrival of Juan Mata and, with Carlo Ancelotti expected to replace Antoine Kombouare at Paris St Germain, is being heavily linked with a move back to France.
David Beckham is another Paris St Germain target, with Ancelotti also having forged a good relationship with the former England captain when they were together at AC Milan.
Malouda was a key part of the Chelsea team that won the Premier League and FA Cup double under Ancelotti in 2009 but has found himself marginalised this season and, ahead of Euro 2012 this summer, wants regular football.
"I'm not getting enough playing time," said Malouda. "It's too limited for the ambitions I have. I can't be happy with that. If it is necessary, I will leave."
Malouda joined Chelsea from Olympique Lyon in 2007 and is understood to be attracted by the prospect of playing for PSG.
A final decision over the future of Kombouare is expected shortly, with the club having issued a statement to say that they are currently engaged in "serene discussions" with their manager.
Malouda has also made it clear that he has not agreed a deal to join Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala.
"I couldn't even manage to pronounce the name of this team," he said.
"I don't know from where these rumours come, when they don't have any base in reality. Me, I am someone who prefers transparency. I don't have anything to hide, so I'm telling you the truth."
Anzhi, meanwhile, have confirmed the appointment of former Lokomotiv Moscow manager Yuri Krasnozhan as the club's new coach. Guus Hiddink was under consideration following his departure as Turkey manager, and is expected to again advise Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich on an informal basis.
Chelsea have transfer-listed Nicolas Anelka and Alex, but are looking to make two signings this January. A central defender is the priority, with Chelsea having made an enquiry to Bolton Wanderers over Gary Cahill.
With Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou both due to play in the African Cup of Nations, Villas-Boas will be reluctant to lose Malouda as well as Anelka this January without further adding to his squad.
