Jones faces weeks on the sidelines after suffering ankle injury in Arsenal win

Manchester United's title challenge remains on track after their 2-1 win over Arsenal - but Phil Jones gave Sir Alex Ferguson another injury headache.

The defender pulled up while tracking Theo Walcott and suffered an ankle injury just 16 minutes into the game.

And Sir Alex Ferguson expects to be without Jones for several weeks but the extent of his injury will not be known until he has a scan on Monday.

United were already without Rio Ferdinand, who failed to make the squad for Sunday's clash and Nemanja Vidic who is out for the rest of the season.

Having taken the lead through Antonio Valencia in first-half injury time, United were pegged back when Robin van Persie fired home in the second half.

But the visitors grabbed all three points when Danny Welbeck rifled home the winner with ten minutes remaining.

Meanwhile, Nani hobbled off in the second half and left the stadium in a protective boot while Wayne Rooney was also limping at the final whistle.

Ferguson, who was already without Rio Ferdinand, Anderson, Tom Cleverley, Ashley Young, Michael Owen and long-term absentees Darren Fletcher and Nemanja Vidic, said: 'It's not good news for us.

'I think Jones will be out for a few weeks - it's ankle ligaments.

'Carrick was feeling his hamstring in the second half and he just had to sit in the middle of the pitch.'
