January Transfer Window: Top 20 Players Who Won't Move Before Summer

0 of 20

The winter transfer window still has a week left before it ends, and there are plenty of players that are still up for consideration when it comes to making a late move.

However, there are plenty of players that have been mentioned in rumors this winter that will probably move during this summer instead.

With Euro 2012 and a full slate of World Cup qualifiers for nations in Asia and both South and North America, players will have a chance to show how great they are.

Here are the top 20 players that will probably be on the move this summer.

Andrei Arshavin

1 of 20

After a fantastic season at Arsenal last year, Andrei Arshavin has fallen off the map. This was highlighted this past weekend, when Arshavin was responsible for allowing the winning goal to be scored by Manchester United.

Arshavin won't be let go from Arsenal from this loss, but considering that he will be 31 at the end of the season, it would only make sense that he would leave considering Arsenal's policy with players over 30.

Arshavin will get a chance to play with Russia in Euro 2012, and will be sold at a discount unless he has a strong tournament like he had in 2008.

Jack Rodwell

2 of 20

Jack Rodwell is one of the top up-and-coming players in England, and the Everton midfielder looks like he could be on the move for a nice transfer fee this summer.

Already it appears that Rodwell will command a heavy price in this window, but that price could easily drop once the summer transfer window begins.

Considering that Everton wants a top-half finish and will want the money more during the summer, it's only logical that Rodwell would move during the summer.

Christian Eriksen

3 of 20

Christian Eriksen is one of the most highly-touted teenagers in recent memory in Europe after making the Danish World Cup squad two years ago and playing some fantastic football at Ajax over the past year and a half.

Eriksen has continued to perform well for Denmark and will once again get a chance to participate in a major international tournament this summer for a Danish side that is in a difficult group.

If Eriksen plays well, expect him to make a move to one of Europe's major clubs.

Jan Vertonghen

4 of 20

Jan Vertonghen is part of the crop of young Belgian players that are currently starring in Europe. After helping Ajax win the Eredivisie last season, it was expected that Vertonghen was going to be on the move last summer.

However, Vertonghen did not change clubs and is once again starring with Ajax. However, Ajax will probably not be able to hold onto their star for next season with so many top clubs in Europe still after him.

Dimitar Berbatov

5 of 20

Dimitar Berbatov has constantly been criticized since his record-setting move to Manchester United in 2008. Even though Berbatov won the golden boot alongside Man City's Carlos Tevez last season, Berbatov has constantly been out of favor to both Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck this season.

Berbatov is still a very talented player and he has already been linked to Bayer Leverkusen, though the Bulgarian striker has already stated that he will not move there this winter.

But don't be surprised if you see Berbatov make a return to form this summer.

Frank Lampard

6 of 20

Frank Lampard is one of the greatest players that both Chelsea and the Premier League has ever had among its ranks.

Yet Lampard's time at Stamford Bridge looks like it is coming to an end. Lampard has gotten less playing time this season and even though he has been impressive when he has played, Lampard is certainly out of favor with manager Andre Villas-Boas.

After Euro 2012, expect Lampard to leave England for good and play elsewhere to close out his career.

Loic Remy

7 of 20

Another talented French player with an amazing amount of talent, Loic Remy is another player that appears destined to the Premier League.

A year after setting a career high in both appearances and goals, Remy has scored bunches of goals this season and has secured a place with the French national team.

Marseille are still in the Champions League, which means that Remy will stay. But after Euro 2012, Remy will probably be one of the most chased-after players in Europe and is likely to make his move then.

Leighton Baines

8 of 20

Leighton Baines has a tremendous amount of talent and has already been linked to some of the biggest clubs in England thanks to his great play at Everton. Baines has already been a starter with the English national team.

Assuming that Baines will play and star for England in Euro 2012, his transfer price will naturally go up to a ridiculous amount, which would lead to Everton selling Baines for a nice amount of money.

Ganso

9 of 20

One of the most talented young players in Brazil at the moment, Ganso might not be as known as his fellow Brazilian and Santos teammate Neymar, yet Ganso is also expected to be a future star for the 2014 World Cup and beyond.

Ganso has continued to get call-ups for the Brazilian national team and has already claimed the No. 10 shirt.

Tottenham have supposedly been interested in Ganso. Don't be surprised if they pick up a significantly cheaper Ganso during this summer.

Lukas Podolski

10 of 20

One of the most decorated members on the German national team, Lukas Podolski has already been linked to Arsenal this winter and could easily be on the move this summer.

Clubs will probably want to acquire Podolski after a tournament that he will probably star in, which will open the door for numerous transfer stories for Podolski.

Luka Modric

11 of 20

Luka Modric has been a transfer target of both Manchester United and Chelsea during the last year, yet he has stayed with Tottenham and his stay has helped Spurs stay in the title hunt this year.

However, talk about Modric will not diminish during this summer, especially with Modric starring for Croatia in the European championships.

If Modric is going to move, it would in all likelihood happen in the summer.

Giuseppe Rossi

12 of 20

One of the best young footballers that is playing in La Liga, Giuseppe Rossi has been plagued by torn knee ligaments this season.

Rossi's goal right now is to get back into shape for Euro 2012 with Italy, where he certainly should be expected to shine (assuming he is healthy).

Considering how awful Villarreal have been this year and the lack of money they have, it makes logical sense that they will sell Rossi in order to help the club.

Didier Drogba

13 of 20

Didier Drogba has been great with Chelsea over the past several years, where the Cote d'Ivoire striker has become a hero at Stamford Bridge.

However, Drogba has been out of favor in recent months and has already been linked heavily to a move to China, where he could join former Chelsea teammate Nicolas Anelka.

Drogba has already stated that he will not be moving this winter (due in part to Drogba's participation in the African Cup of Nations), but he will probably be on the move this summer.

Mathieu Valbuena

14 of 20

One of the most creative midfielders in all of Europe, Mathieu Valbuena certainly is one of the most followed players in Ligue 1.

Valbuena is currently leading Ligue 1 with 10 assists and has helped Marseille advance into the knockout stage of the Champions League.

Marseille will probably not reach the Champions League next year, which will open the doors for Valbuena to leave Marseille and go to England, to which he has already been linked this year.

Carlos Tevez

15 of 20

Carlos Tevez is a very talented yet controversial footballer. He knows how to score plenty of goals, yet at the same time he can make every one around him upset by making negative comments about the club.

Tevez has been in Manchester City's wheelhouse since refusing to come in as a substitute in a Champions League match against Bayern Munich, and his potential moves to both AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain appear to be off due to a disagreement of a transfer fee with Man City.

Summer transfers are historically less expensive than winter transfers, so expect Tevez to move this summer.

Wesley Sneijder

16 of 20

Wesley Sneijder has been linked to Manchester United for years. He is a fantastic midfielder and will certainly be heavily linked to a move to Manchester throughout the summer.

Sneijder has already said that he won't move during this window, but assuming that he has a strong Euro 2012 with the Netherlands, don't be surprised to see Sneijder to be on the move after a strong tournament.

Mario Goetze

17 of 20

He is one of Europe's top young players and there are plenty of clubs that are chasing the Borussia Dortmund signature.

However, it was announced relatively early in this transfer window by Dortumund's sporting director Michael Zorc, telling the German magazine Bild, "Goetze has a contract until 2014. We have no reason to sell him."

Expect this attitude to change after Euro 2012, where Goetze and his Germany side will go into the tournament as a favorite to win the title.

Eden Hazard

18 of 20

It seems that all of Europe's major clubs are chasing after Lille's midfielder Eden Hazard due to the tremendous potential and creativity that the Belgian possesses.

Clubs will need to hold off on their hopes for Hazard after Lille's academy director Jean-Michel Vandamme announced the following to the Italian media: "We have received some very interesting propositions for Hazard, but the player will stay with us until at least the end of the season."

Neymar

19 of 20

Neymar is one of the most highly-touted Brazilians in recent years. Neymar is poised to be one of the best players in the world and certainly will star for Brazil in the 2014 World Cup.

There have been many clubs in Europe that have been chasing Neymar's signature throughout the last several years (especially Real Madrid and Barcelona) but Neymar has continued to stay at Santos.

Neymar will be 20 years old at the start of this summer's transfer window. This will be a very appealing time to pick up this star for the future.

Robin Van Persie

20 of 20

Robin van Persie has absolutely lit up the Premier League this year with his outstanding form for Arsenal. Without question, Arsenal would not be anywhere near their current position without the Dutch striker.

Yet people still believe that van Persie could be on the move this summer, with reports stating that Real Madrid are interested in acquiring the striker during the summer.

Of course, it's unlikely that van Persie will leave Arsenal now, but anything is possible several months from now.
