If Wenger fails to deliver a trophy this season, Arsenal will have gone seven seasons without silverware.

But he may be offered an escape route out of the Emirates by his country, who are believed to be ready to dump Laurent Blanc after Euro 2012.

According to Journal du dimanche, France Football Federation president Noel La Graet will call time on Blanc's reign.

And French chiefs are understood to have identified Wenger as their No 1 choice to take over after the finals in Ukraine and Poland.

Blanc's contract is up after the tournament and the former Manchester United defender has a large and expensive backroom team.

La Graet - who has also reportedly become concerned by Blanc's independence - has previously claimed that the manager's future depended on France's success at Euro 2012.
