On-loan midfielder out for the rest of the season with knee injury

Wolves have confirmed Emmanuel Frimpong will miss the rest of the season after the on-loan midfielder damaged his anterior cruciate ligament. Frimpong suffered the knee injury during Wolves' 2-1 win at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday and he was helped off midway through the first half. Mick McCarthy confirmed after the game that the 20-year-old was due to undergo a scan to determine the extent of the injury and the Wolves boss was feeling pessimistic. Tests have now confirmed the severity of the damage and Frimpong is expected to require several months on the sidelines. The combative midfielder is due to see specialists in London later this week to outline a programme for his rehabilitation. Frimpong had started five Premier League games for Wolves since joining the Premier League strugglers on loan from Arsenal last month. He had featured in 14 matches for the Gunners in all competitions this season prior to linking up with Wolves to gain more first-team experience. It is the second time in his career that Frimpong has suffered an ACL injury after his left knee was hurt back in 2010.
