Corinthians plan renewed loan-bid for Man City outcast Tevez

Corinthians are ready to make a new 18-month loan offer for errant Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.

Brazil's wealthiest club tried to sign the Argentine for £40million last summer, but the deal broke down over how they would finance such a hefty move.

Corinthians have been waiting patiently to re-enter the race, having seen Paris Saint-Germain and both Milan clubs also fail to meet City's demands in January.

Anzhi Makhachkala have also been linked with a move for the 28-year-old, but Corinthians want to avoid a bidding war and will wait until the Russian transfer window closes on February 24 before formalising their move.

However, the Sao Paulo club have been working with sponsors about financing a new offer that would pay Tevez about £70,000 a week after tax.

City want to be rid of their former captain but have so far resisted loan deals and it would take a U-turn to accept a new bid from South America.

Corinthians' assistant director of football Duilio Monteiro Alves admits his club face a struggle to get their man. 'From the amounts of money they (City) are talking about, we won't buy,' he said. 'If we can loan, OK, but it seems that is not their will.'

Buenos Aires club Boca Juniors also dream of signing Tevez but have virtually no money to spare and cannot currently be considered serious suitors.

It is also thought that Tevez now does not prioritise a move home to South America and would prefer to move to Milan in the summer.
