Former England boss rubbishes reports of Russian meeting

Fabio Capello claims to have had no contact with ambitious Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala since walking away from the England job. The Italian resigned as Three Lions boss last week, with a 'misunderstanding' regarding the Football Association's decision to strip John Terry of the national captaincy forcing him to walk. Numerous clubs have already been linked with the vastly-experienced coach, while Anzhi are reported to have been interested in acquiring his services for some time. They were first said to have expressed an interest once Capello made it clear that he would be leaving the England post after Euro 2012, regardless of what happened at this summer's tournament. He has become available much sooner than anybody expected, and that has sparked speculation regarding an imminent switch to Russia. Capello was said to have travelled to Moscow last week to meet with Anzhi officials and discuss the club's plans for the future.

Relaxed

The former AC Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid coach has now refuted those rumours, claiming he is taking the opportunity to have a well-earned break from football. "I am in Saint-Moritz, in the mountains," Capello told L'Equipe. "Will I go to Russia in the coming days? Are you kidding? Look, I am here and I am relaxed. "The only appointment I have is for next Monday when I am due to give out an award in Bologna." Capello's son Pierfilippo, who manages his father's contract, has also denied having had any contact with Anzhi officials. He said: "Considering what I know, my father is not studying any offers. I have not spoken with anyone."
