Fabio blames Suarez

Image: Luis Suarez: Sparked outrage by refusing to shake hands with Patrice Evra

Fabio da Silva has revealed how Luis Suarez's refusal to shake hands with Patrice Evra increased Manchester United's determination.

Uruguayan's behaviour considered unjustified by United defender

Fabio da Silva has revealed how Luis Suarez's refusal to shake hands with Patrice Evra increased Manchester United's determination to defeat Liverpool. Suarez sparked outrage before kick-off last weekend when he snubbed Evra, who the Uruguayan had been found guilty of racially abusing in October to subsequently receive an eight-match ban. In the wake of a bad-tempered 2-1 defeat by United, Liverpool and their No.7 apologised for the refusal to shake hands, but the player and his employers have still been widely criticised. Evra had been targeted by boos in Liverpool's FA Cup win over United at Anfield in January, however, he was still willing to make up with Suarez before being ignored last Saturday.

Rivalry

And Fabio, who was an unused substitute, therefore thinks Suarez's behaviour was unacceptable, as he told Globoesporte: "I believe that in life it is always necessary to forgive. "Patrice wanted to forgive Suarez. In Anfield he was attacked, but at Old Trafford he offered the hand. "The action of Suarez was not justified. For me, to reject the hand of someone is very serious. "The action of the Uruguayan before the beginning of the match increased our force to defeat Liverpool. "In the ground, there was calm and the rivalry. But after the action of Suarez, the tension exploded."
