Kolo Toure is determined to seize his opportunity in Manchester City's first team following an injury to Vincent Kompany.
The Ivory Coast international had been on the outside looking in prior to Pablo Zabaletta's injury against Bolton last weekend.
The former Arsenal man played at right-back after replacing the injured Argentinian in last Saturday's 2-0 Premier League win.
Frustrating
Toure started Thursday's 1-0 UEFA Europa League defeat to Sporting and he is set for an extended run after Kompany picked up a calf strain.
The 30-year-old endured a frustrating start to the season after the Football Association imposed a six-month ban as punishment for testing positive for a banned substance.
He was 'angered' after going through a difficult time off the pitch due to being unable to play and he is eager to give 100 per cent to the cause.
"We have a big squad and every time the manager needs a player to step up and give his best, we have to do it," said Toure.
"For me, I will give 100 per cent, like I usually do. I am more angry than ever after all the difficult time I had.
"I just want to play and play well for my team."
City have a two-point lead on rivals Manchester United in the title hunt and Toure believes the race is too close to call.
Roberto Mancini's men are due to meet United on April 30th and Toure believes it will be like a cup final if both teams maintain their current form.
"We know the quality United have. To be honest it is 50-50 at the minute," he continued.
Careful
"We just need to be careful. It is going to be a great end to the season.
"If we can beat all the teams we are going to play against, then it will be like a final against United.
"I think that will be the best scenario - it would be massive. The most important thing now is the game against Swansea."
