One name that continues to be featured in the transfer pages of many newspapers and websites, in addition to Internet forums, is Schalke hitman Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Now it seems an exit could be imminent after news emerged that the Dutch striker has put off talks of a new contract.

Talking to German newspaper Bild, he explained:  "There will be time to gather my thoughts after the season."

"Before then, I want to focus on scoring goals and not let myself be distracted at the European Championships.''

Schalke president Clemens Tonnies, however, believes Huntelaar's decision won't be purely monetary. He told Sport1 television, "We are making Klaas a top offer."

"I believe that the well-being factor will play a role in his decision and he is very close to his Dutch home here with Schalke.''

ESPN reports that the club will "go to the upper limit of their wage structure" to tie him to a two-year extension with his contract currently set to expire next summer.

Reignited

Huntelaar has reinvented himself in Germany after tough spells in both Spain and then Italy.

After impressing with Heerenveen, Ajax snapped him up, and it was at the Amsterdam club where he started to hit the headlines.

Real Madrid took him to the Bernabeu before AC Milan tried to bring him back to his best at the San Siro, but neither worked out.

Schalke has proved to be a perfect fit. He is currently standing on 22 Bundesliga goals this season with his side sitting third behind Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in the table.

Will Huntelaar himself want to move though?

Does he feel like he has a point to prove by once again taking a step up, or is stability at a club where he regularly finds the net the right option?

If he does decide to move on though, would you take him at your club?
