Mario Götze is staying with Borussia Dortmund—it’s official.

BVB fans everywhere will be breathing a sigh of relief as the 19-year-old star finally committed to staying at the German club.

Despite having a torrid time with injury this season, Götze’s obvious talent at such a young age ensured he is a player that manager Jürgen Klopp would be desperate to keep.

Götze’s future had seemed uncertain this season, with the player being linked to many top Premier League sides.

Amongst these were Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea, all of whom will now have to look elsewhere in their hunt for a new attacking midfielder.

As Dortmund inch closer every week to retaining their Bundesliga title, few would blame Klopp for occasionally thinking about what next season has in store.

With Götze being sidelined with injury for much of this current season, Kevin Großkreutz, Jakub Błaszczykowski and Shinji Kagawa have all been playing fantastically, and all have contributed to Dortmund’s current league position.

With Götze due back from injury soon and Marco Reus arriving in the summer, Klopp is going to have more attacking flair than he can shake a stick at.

But for now, the news that Götze will not be going anywhere this summer will be welcomed by manager, teammates and fans alike.

And the player himself?

He said that he feels comfortable at Dortmund, where he has been since he was eight years old, and told the club's official website that he “wants to be a part of this development process” at the club.

If winning the Bundesliga title last season and looking on course to retain it this year is a “development process,” who knows what the club could go on to achieve?

It seems Mario Götze has definitely made the right choice.
