Fernando Torres, Luka Modric, Angel di Maria in World Football Transfer Rumours

So with the season drawing ever closer to the end, the rumour mill is well and truly spinning. There have been plenty of big players rumoured to be leaving their current employers and with Euro 2012 coming up this summer, you can imagine clubs working fast to secure their targets.

The transfer market is always an exciting time as you look on hopelessly, wanting your star players to stay and wanting your manager to spend some cash bringing in top talent from around the world.

So where do I start? I guess with Mr. Fernando “Couldn’t hit a barn door” Torres, with the Daily Mirror linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge. The newest and most likely suitors seem to be Russian giants Anzhi Makhachkala.

The recent form of the striker has shown teams that he can still play, but with his scoring record the way it is, it still may be a gamble making a move for the Spanish international. His recent linkup play has been very promising and it may be enough for Chelsea to take a risk on keeping the striker.

The mouth-watering prospect of Torres linking up with Samuel Eto’o would be possible if the striker makes the move to the Russian billionaires. I’m sure Anzhi won’t stop there and will be a force to reckon with on the European stage soon enough.

Now moving onto the midfield maestro Luka Modric, with The Sun linking him to high-spending Manchester City. The talented Croatian has been a revelation since his move from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008 and it would take a hefty fee to prise him away from White Hart Lane.

He would fit perfectly in Man City’s midfield but you have to think of who will be left out to make room for the dynamic playmaker. With David Silva and Samir Nasri already on the books at City, surely one of them would have to make way for Modric to slip in to the City midfield.

City manager Roberto Mancini had this to say on the rumour:

He is definitely one of the best in the Premier League.

But it is by no means easy to get him because he plays for a big club, Tottenham. It is unlikely that they would let him leave.

Last but not least, The Sun also links Angel di Maria to a move away from Madrid with his favoured destination being West London. The high-flying Argentinean has notched up 13 assists in 15 La Liga appearances this season so it's no wonder why Chelsea are interested in the winger.

Chelsea have sometimes lacked with this season, often deploying Daniel Sturridge in a wide position despite him wanting to play as an out-and-out striker.

Di Maria would fit in well at Chelsea, but depending on who’s in charge come the beginning of next season, most Chelsea rumours have to come with a pinch of salt.
