Chelsea Transfer Rumours: 5 Attacking Players on Blues' Wishlist

0 of 5

In the summer transfer window, Chelsea will most likely be looking for new strikers.

Didier Drogba's production is down and his contract is up. As a result, he will play a lesser role next year, should he remain with the club. Fernando Torres has looked better over the past couple of weeks, but he will have trouble leading a title team in scoring.

Therefore, the Blues will need new strikers when the summer rolls around. Moreover, they will need to fill the wings. Essentially, Chelsea need to revamp their attack, and the transfer window is the perfect time to do that.

Things could change, but here are five attacking players that Chelsea are currently hoping to bring to Stamford Bridge.

Demba Ba

Demba Ba is one of the major reasons that Newcastle United have returned to the top half of the Premier League table.

He isn't the most creative player, but he is one of the best finishers in the league. He is an imposing figure in the box, and he poaches goals as well as anyone.

Chelsea have great buildups, but they sometimes have trouble finishing. If Roman Abramovich brings in Ba—like he wants to, according to the Mail Online—Chelsea will have the finisher they so desperately need.

Gonzalo Higuain

It's usually a long shot to bring in a player from Real Madrid, but Chelsea could pull it off this summer.

Gonzalo Higuain has played a full 90 minutes only twice since the turn of the new year. Some of that might be due to fitness, but there are just too many attacking players at Madrid.

Higuain has 20 goals in La Liga, but he still doesn't play 90 minutes. If he came to England, you can be sure that he would play as much as possible.

Chelsea and Manchester City are already in talks with Madrid for his services, according to Metro.

Higuain has played well, but he is on his way out of Spain.

If Chelsea brought him in, they would have the dynamic attacker they've been missing.

Hulk

Chelsea have been looking at Hulk for a long time now, and they recently reopened talks with Porto about the winger, according to the Mail Online.

Chelsea are looking for a player that can make plays on the wing, and Hulk could be that guy. He has the ability to pass, cross and score, depending on what is necessary. This dynamic ability in attack is what Chelsea are searching for and what Hulk can provide.

Hulk has an outrageous £85 million release clause in his contract, and Chelsea are trying to find away around that. As long as that clause is in play, Chelsea will be unable to pry the Brazilian away from Porto.

If Roman Abramovich can find a way around the clause, Hulk could be in London next year.

Stevan Jovetic

With Fiorentina likely to miss out on European football once again, Chelsea could pry Stevan Jovetic away from Italy.

Granted, Chelsea aren't currently in the Champions League places, either. However, they do have a chance to climb the Premier League table to qualify for the competition.

Either way, Jovetic wants to play in Europe, and Chelsea will give him an opportunity to do so—even if it might not be next year.

Chelsea met with Jovetic's agent at the end of March, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via football-italia.net). It's a long process, but it's the first step.

If Roman Abramovich can work out a deal, you can be sure that Jovetic will be on his way to London this summer.

Edinson Cavani

Edinson Cavani is one of the most powerful strikers in the world, and he is ready for a big pay day.

Unfortunately for Napoli, Cavani will be too expensive. As a result, they will be looking to move him in the summer.

Chelsea and Manchester City have been in talks with Napoli, but Chelsea are the ones in talks with his representatives, according to The Sun. He will cost them around £30 million, but Chelsea desperately need him.

Cavani can be quiet for over an hour, but he only needs a moment to change a game. The 25-year-old has nearly 30 goals this season, and he isn't done yet.

Cavani can put the ball in the net, and Chelsea will make a serious push for him this summer.
