Summer Transfer Window: Will He Leave or Will He Stay?

With the summer transfer window approaching, some tabloids are quick to link big-name players to big clubs—generally without much substance to back up their claims. 

This article will analyse the situations of 10 big-name players at their current clubs.

Why Didier Drogba Will Leave Chelsea

Drogba is no longer an "untouchable" and his contract expires at the end of the season. 

Last season, he scored 13 goals and provided 20 assists compared to nine goals and three assists this season. 

Why Drogba Will Stay at Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku will probably go on loan next season, meaning Drogba will fight for Fernando Torres' position (like this season). 

If this loan move eventuates, it shows that Chelsea management do not believe Lukaku is ready and thus it would be logical to retain Drogba. 

Why Emmanuel Adebayor Will Leave Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester City may wisely choose not to sell Adebayor to Spurs because they will be lethal if Eden Hazard decides to call White Hart Lane home. 

For example, if Anzhi Makhachkala offer the same transfer fee as Spurs, City would be more inclined to sell Adebayor to Makhachkala.   

Adebayor's ego may be the major barrier because he could refuse to take a substantial paycut.  

Why Adebayor Will Stay at Tottenham Hotspur

He is playing great football at Spurs and has become their No. 1 forward. 

He was earning a lot of money at Manchester City but he felt "unloved" because they didn't rate him. 

Why Dimitar Berbatov Will Leave Manchester United

He is warming the benches and is on the outside looking in. 

Performance isn't an issue because he has scored seven Premier League goals in 10 games—he was subbed on and off in seven of those games.

Supposedly his contract ends in June but the club have exercised a clause where they renewed his contract—seemingly against his will. 

Why Luka Modrić Will Leave Tottenham Hotspur

A combination of wanting more money, ambition and his relationship with Daniel Levy. Well, nonexistent relationship because it deteriorated to the extent that Modrić handed in a transfer request. 

Why Modrić Will Stay at Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs have the upper hand because his contract expires in 2016. 

Spurs are one signing away from being legit title contenders. Like if they sign Eden Hazard (which they won't), think Modrić, Gareth Bale, Rafael van der Vaart, Hazard and Emmanuel Adebayor playing together.

Why Gareth Bale Will Leave Tottenham Hotspur

Say Barcelona forgot about the UEFA Financial Fair Play rules and submit a monumental transfer fee bid, which is then accepted by Spurs. 

Talking about the likelihood of Barça signing Bale, where would they play him? Left-back? He's not a good left-back.

Assuming no club will pay a king's ransom for Hazard, he has to stay at Lille. 

Why Mario Götze Will Leave Borussia Dortmund 

Manchester City could make him one of the highest-paid players in the world, and if he is materialistic, he may force a move. 

Just look at Samir Nasri. 

Why Götze Will Stay at Borussia Dortmund 

Jürgen Klopp has assembled the best young squad in the world: Mats Hummels, Neven Subotić, Marcel Schmelzer, Łukasz Piszczek, Shinji Kagawa, Kevin Großkreutz, Sven Bender and Robert Lewandowski all have world-class potential and are 23 years or younger. 

Ivan PeriŠić and Moritz Leitner aren't even starters. 

Marco Reus will join the crew next season. 

They were the kings of Germany last season and they will remain kings this season (assuming they don't collapse). 

Dortmund underperformed in the UEFA Champions League this season but watch out for them next season. 

Why Mario Balotelli Will Leave Manchester City

Low football IQ, bad attitude, divisive personality and a liability on and off the field. 

My main issue with Balotelli is he has scored 17 goals without even getting out of first gear. 

Why Balotelli Will Stay at Manchester City

If he works more and cuts his silly mistakes, he will be a world-class forward. He has the potential to score 30-plus goals in a season. 

Why Neymar Will Leave Santos

He has the talent to be the best player in the world so in order to win the FIFA Ballon d'Or, he needs to go to Real Madrid and be the reason why they beat Barcelona and Lionel Messi. 

Why Neymar Will Stay at Santos

He recently said he'd stay at the club for life: 

Staying here until the end of my career would be a good gift [to the club] because I'm a Santos fan. This is the team where I have grown up. I've been at the club since I was 12 and have a wonderful story here. I want to end my career here.

Santos are breaking the bank to keep Neymar happy. He is the king at Santos and he dominates the league.

Why Robin van Persie Will Leave Arsenal

His chances of winning the UEFA Champions League are slim. He is reportedly being paid £80,000 for being the third-best forward in the world—so this means he is being short-changed.

If he cares about his legacy, he'll move to a club capable of consistently winning the Champions League.  

Why van Persie Will Stay at Arsenal

Prior to moving to Arsenal, van Persie was a troubled asset and his reputation was so bad that many clubs opted not to sign him. 

Remember he was effectively kicked out of Feyenoord by Bert van Marwijk.

Why else do you think Arsenal only paid £2.75 million for van Persie? Talk about foresight from Arsène Wenger. 

Arsenal stood by van Persie when his body deteriorated and some had suggested that the club part ways with the Dutchman. 

If van Persie is loyal, he will stay with the club that had leverage over him and decided to back him. 

Now he is the one with leverage and the club are hoping he backs them.
