A lot of people were surprised that Chelsea forward Fernando Torres admitted that the better team did not win on Tuesday at Camp Nou.

Torres conceded that Barcelona was the better team in the 2-2 draw. Then again, Chelsea knew that going into the game.

Torres said after the match, via ESPN:

Football is just like this. The better side does not always win. We knew this is what we had to do against Barca, although this is not the prettiest thing to do.

We used our weapons and it turned out great for us in both matches. Barca had their chances, but they did not take them and we found a lifeline with Ramires' goal. We have great respect for Barca because we know they are the strongest side in the world.

Barcelona controlled the ball for 83 percent of the match on Tuesday and had the lead until the 90th minute, when Torres swung home a triumphant goal.

Chelsea did what they had done on April 18, when they won 1-0 in the first leg at Stamford Bridge. In that match, Barcelona controlled the ball for 79 percent of the match and had 24 shots to Chelsea's four.

Nevertheless, the Blues successfully executed a strategy that has exposed Barcelona this season. They pressured Lionel Messi up the middle of the pitch and disrupted Barcelona's fluid offense. This worked for Real Madrid, as well.

It didn't hurt Chelsea's chances that Barcelona has also been very inefficient in front of goal as of late. The team haven't been able to finish, exemplified by Messi's miss on the penalty kick in the 49th minute of Tuesday's match.

This has allowed teams to play tough and have a chance of upsetting Barcelona down the stretch.

Chelsea was not the better team on Tuesday. They simply executed their strategy to perfection.
