According to Metro, Liverpool are reportedly the Premier League club behind a $26.5 million (US) bid for Bologna midfielder Gaston Ramirez.

The 21-year-old Uruguayan has been on the radars of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Ramirez' agent, Pablo Bentancur, told Italian TV station TMW about the bid. (h/t Daily Mail)

"Bologna have received an offer near to 20-million euros from an important club in the Premier League," Bentancur said. "Bologna will decide at the end of the season what they are going to do."

Ramirez had an impressive year for the Serie A club, scoring six goals and providing four assists in 30 appearances during his first season with a regular starting place.

With three games remaining on their league calendar, Bologna sit comfortably mid-table in ninth position.

With the bid for Ramirez, Kenny Dalglish is announcing he is still in the market for creative midfielders even with the purchases of Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson last summer.

Despite enjoying consistent places on the team sheet, none of the three managed to live up to expectations during their first season at Anfield.

Liverpool have fallen to eighth place in the Premier League table after a shocking run of form over the second half of the season.

The Reds have managed just four wins in their last 16 league fixtures.
