not bad. I like the power button on the slim, it looks dope.

Abash2802d ago

Runs that cool and runs that quiet? Well then Sony did a great job with the Slim, the PS4 tends to get really loud at times.

Great to hear the DS4 feels better too now

solid_snake36562802d ago

Every new console generally runs quiet. The older it gets, and you get more dust inside the console the hotter and louder it will get. My launch ps4 runs quiet all the time, since I use an air gun to clean the vents.

MagicBeanz2802d ago

Maybe for you, I never hear my PS4, maybe you should move it to a better ventilated area.

BLow2802d ago

Mine was loud too until i took it apart and cleaned all the dust out. Now it's quiet again. I would recommend doing it at least once a year or when you start to hear it sound like a vacuum.

nitus102801d ago

I have the CHU1200 model and it is very quite. When I am playing my PS4 on my PC monitor the PS4 is actually within one meter from my ears and even if I turn off or mute my amplifier I can bearly hear the fan and I do have good hearing.

kraenk122801d ago

True...the 1200 series is already close to silent.

This sounds a lot better than the last article. I like it!

freshslicepizza2802d ago (Edited 2802d ago )

Running cooler and quieter is always a plus. Waiting to see the price model for this and Neo. $249 and $399 would be perfect

Kokyu2802d ago

Rumor is this slim has a TB hardrive Im guessing it will be 300$ and Neo will be 500$ because it is rumored to have 2tb if it indeed does I think 500$ is a pretty good bet.

ShadowKnight2802d ago (Edited 2802d ago )

@Kokyu If the Neo is 499$ the Scorpio will be $599 lmao.

KiwiViper852801d ago (Edited 2801d ago )

@ShadowKnight

You mean you hope Scorpio is $599...

That way you can justify to yourself that your Neo is the better console, because price

kraenk122801d ago

@Kiwi

It doesn't matter if it's the better console if it has the better and more games.

morganfell2801d ago

@Kokyu,

Actually the rumor is the basic slim is 500GB - as the photos on the box have indicated. The manual from that unit indicates there is also a 1TB model so you would have two prices, likely 249 and 299 USD.

So, it's pretty much the same as the original PS4 with a few minor changes. I'm surprised they didn't at least upgrade the battery on the DS4 controller. I'm happy with the original PS4 for now and will wait to see what the PS4 Neo has to offer.

Easy Power Button will be a Plus for many

Errorist762802d ago (Edited 2802d ago )

I don't get that. Do people have huge clumsy fingers or are they too dumb to remember which is which?!

Btw one turns the console on and off with the controller..

MasterCornholio2802d ago

I believe what he means is that the touch sensitive button was a problem for some people. Mind you I never had an issue with it but I'll admit that a slight touch is enough to set it off.

KwietStorm_BLM2802d ago (Edited 2802d ago )

I couldn't tell you which button is the power button right now, because I don't use it enough. I guess that makes me dumb? Well you said it. You don't get that.

corroios2802d ago

Mastercornholio right on

Kokyu2802d ago

Agreed Ive never used my power or eject button yet.

OB1Biker2802d ago

I usually switch it on with the controller but I don't count how many times I either switch it off/on or eject accidentally just dusting it or changing disk etc. New buttons are improvements.

Utalkin2me2802d ago

@Errorist76

Really that is your bitter argument? I couldn't tell you how many times i have turned my console on by just dusting it. I mostly turn my console on by the controller so i honestly couldn't tell you which is which. I guess its a good thing for you "Im too Dumb". Shame we all cant be on errorist level of greatness.

daynnight3652802d ago

It's amazing they can play a game if they struggle with two buttons on a console, imo

rainslacker2801d ago (Edited 2801d ago )

stock power button, and eject button for that matter, are extremely sensitive.

Don't really have a problem with it while playing games, or when I actually want to use the buttons for some reason, but I have accidnetly hit it when moving the system for some reason. Just this weekend, I was dusting and the feather duster type thing actually turned the system on and ejected the disc when I brushed over the eject button. Was kind of annoying, since I haven't set up my TV to do all the HDMI control stuff properly, so my whole system got turned on, but it doesn't all turn off when I shut the system off.:(

Anyhow, apparently there are people out there who can't remember which button is which, or are confused about what a button actually does. There are those that have issues with the buttons on a mechanical level, but that's not really what's being compared here. Personally, I think the criticisms about the buttons were just Xbox fan boys rolling with some stupid grievance that happened to come about on the internet somewhere and somehow others made it into a big thing. never in the history of consoles have I heard of the power or eject buttons being issues....outside of when they stopped working. Maybe console gamers are just getting dumber as time goes by.

@Kwiet and Kokyu or others with similar comments.

My above comment wasn't to imply you may be dumb...although I read your replies after I wrote mine...it was for those that seem to actually want to use the buttons regularly. For those that never use them...although you'd have to use the power button the first time you use the console...it would make sense you wouldn't just naturally be able to go straight to the button you would want.

For the most part, I feel it's safe to assume that repetition would allow you to remember without much problem....as I assume you're both capable of using a controller without looking at it.:)

b777conehead2801d ago

You get a rude. There's people like me who have numb hands witch makes some things harder to do. So stop calling people dumb

kraenk122801d ago (Edited 2801d ago )

@Mastercornholio

The last revision CUH1200 series didn't have touch sensitive buttons anymore already.

InTheZoneAC2802d ago (Edited 2801d ago )

but who actually uses the power button on the console?

edit: @corpser, I have no man's sky, played it for around 14 hours with no crashes. I would like to play it more but most of my time is either Overwatch, Battlefield 4, or Madden 17 now.

solid_snake36562802d ago

Seriously, I always use my ds4 to turn on the console.

Goldby2802d ago

@Solid

YOU CAN DO THAT!!!!! /S

Utalkin2me2802d ago

@InTheZoneAC

I have turned my PS4 countless times by just dusting and wiping it off. So yes it is a little annoying. A actual button will be much better.

TheUndertaker852802d ago

@Utalkin2me: Why are you leaving your system plugged in while "cleaning it"?

ziggurcat2802d ago

@utalkin2me:

to be fair, they do have a physical button on the newer non-slim PS4s, too. but i know what you mean - i had turned on my PS4 a bunch of times while cleaning it as well.

Corpser2801d ago

You obviously didn't play No man's sky lol, so many times it crashed hard and froze your ps4 you'll need the power button

MasterCornholio2802d ago

I wonder if the 4.0 update will allow users to turn off the lightbar in the new controller.

Nice that they improved the controller though.

TorpeAlex2802d ago

Currently the 4.0 beta ver. 2 does not offer any lightbar options besides the pre-existing dimming choices.

Kokyu2802d ago

Neither does the 4.0 version 3

MatrixxGT2802d ago (Edited 2802d ago )

Nope, really sucks because I used a piece of electrical tape to cover the current light bar, now they ad another friggin light source!

@shaken because it is distracting, even on dimmest setting I can still see the glare off the tv that I'm watching smart ass.

Shakengandulf2802d ago

You'll live mate, like seriously, its a bloody dim light on the controller... Do u watch the tv or controller?
Omg we're all doomed.

NarooN2802d ago

@Shaken

It gets annoying when you can see a bright reflection in your TV coming from the controller. It's a silly gimmick that doesn't need to exist, but it does anyway. What happened to the simple small LED's like in the DS3?

nitus102801d ago

How close to your TV do you have your PS4 controller?

The only time I can see the light from my controller on the screen is if I bring up my DS4 to within 30cm (approx 1 foot) of the display and even then I can bearly make it out. I will admit that both my HDTV (over 5 years old) and monitor (6 months) screens have a matte finish.

I suppose if you have a reflective or non-matte finish on your HDTV and you play in the dark you can see the LED's of the DS4 but playing in the dark is not a good for your eyes over the long term, nor is sitting too close to the screen.

PSN_ZeroOnyx2801d ago

I have to sit fairly close to my TV (50" LG) due to poor vision. My TV screen has a glossy surface which reflects light from sources such as lamps and sunlit windows and yet I never have a single issue with the DS4's light. Even while playing in the dark I'll notice it on surfaces (stands, tables and walls) at times, but I never see it on my screen .

Errorist762802d ago

Sounds interesting. The fact the controller is still on two bars could mean it uses a different, more efficient chip for the touchpad which was the main reason for the low battery life.

Anybody want a copy of lost planet 3 for PS3? 2GEE-7RNK-P4A5

Such a good game to me. Crazy how different peoples opinions can get.

Crows901h ago(Edited 1h ago)

For me it wasn't that surprising. There was some bad press before. There's also the matter and element of a person's disposition when trying out a certain game. Sometimes you're just not really into the type of game that you're playing so you put it down because you don't like it. Not necessarily because it's a bad game but because you're just not up for something like this. Reviewers have a tough because no matter what they feel like playing they've got to play what's releasing.

I have many times gone back to games that I put down only to thoroughly enjoy them the second time around because either there wasn't another exciting game coming out around the same time or I just had no other games to play and haven't played that type of game in a while. I'm not the type of person that can just play a souls game through all this iterations one after the other without getting burnt out on the formula.

In my opinion this game was great from the start. Some bugs here and there but nothing worse than the most AAA releases during the same time after and before. All I did was wait one week and I had a phenomenal time with the game. No other zombie survival game comes close to how I thoroughly enjoyed this one

Leeroyw1h ago

Second act of that game far surpassed the first. Which is why people felt it didn't live up to the hype of the trailers. Personally I loved it. But it was a slog to get your bike and weapons up to skill.

Inverno1h ago

Was gonna post a brick wall of text but I'll keep it short. Pardon my French but f**k the media for the hate they gave this game. If you have a PC to play it on you can get it as low as 10 bucks, and if you have a PS then it's a no brainer. Totally worth a play.

phatak48m ago(Edited 39m ago)

I don't even comment here often but had to for this game, I still stand by my opinion that this was one of the top 10 games of the ps4 generation, I preferred days gone over god of war, horizon and last of us 2, the launch version was definitely piss poor and that messed up the reviews for this game, honestly some games deserve a re-review or post patch review as the metacritic score stays forever but the reality is its not even the same game anymore, the ps5 patch is amazing and the pc version which I play on nowadays is one of the best looking games ever, complete shame that we wont get a sequel, god of war got one, horizon got one, last of us got one, spider man got one,ghosts of tshushima about to get one but this game wont get one, sucks to be honest.

Ps3/360 era had some hidden underated games for me it was shadows of the damned, alice madness returns that deserved more sales and a sequel/ higher scores, and similarly for the ps4 era it was days gone, and dying light 1 that deserved much more love, dying light atleast got a sequel, everyone needs to play this game once and judge for themselves, for me its officially the most underrated game of the ps4 era, go play it if you haven't.

Awesome game. Just bought it for my laptop last week
