I do find it odd that out of all the days this month and all the time Nintendo have had to announce the thing they pick the day where Rockstar are showing off the Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer...not just an average game aswell.

I have a feeling it'll be on the nx with an official name, which is why Rockstar didn't just outright say it's coming to it in the teaser.

See I was thinking that but other games have already said it's coming to the NX so I don't see why they didn't just say so in the announcment. I mean they could have waited for the official name but that's something that can be easily changed in a picture.

Personally I think there maybe something happening between the two, imagine Nintendo announce third party love again (BS last time), what better way to persuade people than with a big multiplat like RDR2 taking advantage of the HW. I am being optimistic because I am a fan of Nintendo and want nothing but greatness from them. Odds are it will be a red background for 30 seconds saying NX march release, details x/x/17

Rockstar? Nintendo? Third Party Deal? I doubt it. They can't even hold a deal with Sony over the Agent thing, god knows if they got their money back or not after they paid for L.A Noire to be an exclusive.

Plus there is no way Rockstar would p*** off their biggest customers.

A lot of publishers have been publicly stating how excited they are to work with Nintendo, which yes is only PR, but this still means support and it isn't entirely unrealistic that Rockstar joins others and drops their games on it - especially if this system is near spec with current gen systems.

I know I am preaching to the choir here. If anyone needs 3rd parties, it's Nintendo and they may be handling this finally. It's how they annihilated SMS and sold over Genesis. Then Sony had Nintendo's 3rd parties ready to go then Nintendo pulled out of the Snes-CD deal last minute (as we all know) and Sony decided to go forward anyway with what dominated the industry as the PS1 - which had nearly all top 3rd parties and beat Saturn. Then Sony did it again over Dreamcast using 3rd party support with PS2; I get tears thinking about that loss. I know when I was kid, the system with 3rd parties won. I think we ALL have those consoles btw and we all love each equally. Anyways, Rockstar would be BIG success to have.

However, I am CAUTIOUSLY optimistic, so if I do pick it up, it will be for their exclusives anyway, which I highly enjoyed on Wii U. The beginning of this gen would have been unbearable without my Wii U because we had a huge drought at the start.

Is it though? I can't be the only one bored to death of Mario. Sure the games are great but Nintendo need to do something special in order to win people back over, and showing us more Mario isn't going to get anyone excited.
I think we need to see something new and fresh, or just a full on Pokemon RPG!

One really good thing that I'm hoping from Nintendo is to release, for free, a small portion of their NES and SNES library... They would do this if they really, really, really, really want to sell more units than a typical Nintendo launch.

seeing how they sold us the same VC game on wii, wii u, and 3ds it shouldn't hurt them to release some free VC games on the NX, especially if they're "trophy" and/or online enabled. Surely the NX is going to have a trophy system - probably called Stars(bronze, silver, gold, diamond tiers) and what better way that to enable an online setup for 2-4 player VC games. They need to do everything they can to entice people now.

Have you not considered that the very people that have been telling you the specs the name the price the release date are also the ones that just told you about the trailer that Nintendo is now confirming? It actually means the rumors are indeed true in those sources have already leaked the information as ironically being confirmed by Nintendo.

Price: $399 (not ideal, but that is still competitive and should be pretty profitable)

Specs: more powerful than PS4, maybe Pro. ARM architecture, 1080p/60fps max, HDR capable

Launch Games: Zelda, some 2D Mario, Pokemon remake (I have a strong feeling that Yellow will be remade for some reason, if not Sun and Moon), Pikmin 4, Smash rerelease, Dragon Quest games, some Final Fantasy game, Beyond Good and Evil in 2018

Features: Basic Xbox Live features like cross-game chat, Netflix and Hulu streaming, downloading/updating in the background and while the system is off, multiple games booted up at the same time in the background, improved Miiverse, friend invites for all online games, amiibo support, just to name a few that the console itself will be capable of. I don't even want to speculate as to what the controller can do because I have no earthly idea what Nintendo will or can do in that aspect.

Release Date: March 24

Console handheld hybrid, the "insert disc/cartridge" on the handheld so you can take the game wherever you like without any loss in gameplay that would happen with things like remote play etc.

I'm not sure what you're talking about Buddy because we actually knew of this revealed by the same sources that have been leaking the same information if Nintendo's confirming this right now is true and actually also means they're confirming those sources have always been correct about their information.

All you have to do is look up the articles on n4g to realize that we were talking about this announcement based on the leaks.... before Nintendo's confirmation which actually means nothing was kept a secret.

Have you not considered that Nintendo has just had a a platform being developed that has had leaks being released since last year?

Those leaks for Playstation 4 and Xbox One it was actually only for a few months before official announcement Nintendo confirmed they were making a new platform at the ending of last year

yeah but we still know nothing about the NX. Other than the leading belief that it's a hybrid machine. Which still hasn't been 100% confirmed. We have had varying rumours that the system is more powerful than the PS4/XB1 or others that say its on par with the XB1 to others that say it is weaker than the XB1.

I mean just because we knew they were working on a system isn't exactly called leaking information. Nintendo has released a system every 5 years like clockwork (Wii lasted 6 years) so we knew that a new console was coming sometime in 2017 anyways, based on historical numbers and the abysmal performance of the Wii U.

We all could have guessed that they would make a slim version that's easy they've always done that but the exact date? Consider the information leaked about Pro they had the time frame of release correct they had the specs correct they even had a drawing of the design.

Those are not just mere shot in the dark guesses.

I'm a fan of PlayStation but that never stopped me from understanding that is very likely that the leaked sources are correct because we've never had a platform ever get announced in pure silence with nothing already known we always know a great deal about a system before its official announcement.

@EDMIX - well we still don't know the clock speed of the CPU yet, that remains to be a mystery. Some have said that they have been increased over the 1.6 Ghz in the OG PS4. Also we assume it still uses the same RAM.

Only thing we seem to know is the GPU numbers.

i am not trying to hate on nx or any nintendo console but if RDR2 hasn't even been announced for pc what makes anyone think that a console from nintendo will get the game(a console which once again is going after a gimmick more than a core console)

it doesn't make a sense business wise to take a risk from take-two(R*) nintendo home consoles are for nintendo exclusives and nintendo fans rarely support anything 3rd party wise

I was asking you to tell me all the official details we know about the console. How can you say all the leaks are true when the only things we know for sure about the system are that it's releasing in March 2017 and Nintendo is calling it a home console.

There was an article each and every day here on N4G for the last month saying "reveal coming next week", then it was the week after that, then it was the week after that. You had to figure that sooner or later someone would "guess" right by continuing to make these articles.

Because all companies are full of leaks why did you think that was just exclusive The Endo? We've known for a very long time that red dead was going to be Rockstar's next game simply because of leaks, we knew that Fallout 4 was going to take place in Boston literally years before release simply because of a couple laeks, we knew of PlayStation 4 specs, of Xbox One's specs as well as it having the online-only DRM thing we knew about Scorpios exact specs , we knew about PlayStation Pro exact specs and even the time frame in which it was going to release, I'm not trying to say that it's exclusive to Nintendo in any way shape or form, I think you are.

I'm merely saying that this company is literally confirming some of the leaks by simply announcing the trailer which was ironically already told To Us by the same leaks lol

I'm trying to say that no platform has ever been announced in silence , it's always been a bunch of features we already knew about simply because of the magnitude of the actual item that's being released marketing people legal people that need to get correct names and patents filed there's just too much going on for them too seriously release and announce an entire platform in secrecy and it's why it's never happened and gaming or entertainment in general.

I do not believe it was just a series of guesses that was inevitably correct especially if you consider some of the leaks got the exact day correct. I have no clue why you're literally as naive as to believe that that was simply down to some sort of inevitability.

Consider that the same people that leaked the existence of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One also knew the exact time frame of their announcements as well as some of the games that we're going to be launched with the platform as well as the specs down to very exact features it's just simply too big to really keep secret especially considering multiple developers are all working on the platform all it takes is one person to go on read it or neogaf and start spilling the beans on what they're seeing.

I seriously can't believe you're doing something as pathetic as questioning the legitimacy of leaks, I understand that some are not real but you have to at least understand that the industry has a series of Developers and people that work in the industry that always see what these projects are and are always going to be leaking the information.

Nothing this major really releases or gets announced in silence.

@EDMIX - absolutely, I never said that Nintendo had a steel trap or anything like that, don't twist my statments.

"All they just did confirms that the majority of the leaks are correct". Sorry, but when you use the term majority it usually means a lot. What leaks have been proven correct so far? I can count maybe 2. That is considered a majority now? Until we actually see the thing, not much has been proven correct. A reveal date? Hell, everyone knew it had to be coming soon, you didn't need a crystal ball for that. If Nintendo was adament on releasing this thing in March then you knew they had to show it off sooner or later.

In today's age it's hard to keep anything a secret, but I would say that Nintendo has done a pretty darn good job all things considered. Devs aren't saying much, if anything. And so far we have a couple of "leaked" documents that could be complete fabrication for all we know.

Just because some guy was able to leak a bunch of stuff about the Pro doesn't mean that anything that has been leaked about the NX is true. We will know soon enough though. Then we can comment about who was right about what information.

I'm more excited for Nintendo's next console than I am for either the PS4 Pro or Xbox Scorpio ,and I'm mainly a PC gamer! I do love my New 3DS Xl and enjoy playing the Monster Hunter games on it, and I would love to play the same Monster Hunter games in HD both at home and on the go.

Nintendo just does not want to play with Sony and MS. They want to stay niche. Oh well. I'm sure they will sell millions of units but this is just not in the same league as the rest of the console world.

I was excited as I saw the first 30 seconds of the advert. But got bored by the end off it.

I want specs, price and list of 3rd party support. It's a ps vits that may will a Nintendo built os, and has a docking station. It's not ground breaking, but if the specs are up there and the price is low (I mean real low for the tablet and tv unit) I may get it.

But if not I'll wait it out or skip completely.

it's essentially a handheld that can plug into a docking station to view on the TV & charge.
I wanted a better handheld from Nintendo & it looks like I got one.
Will be playing it in the handheld full form if I get it.

Though I'm not bothered about playing it on TV & I can't imagine playing it with detatched controllers on the small screen at a distance.
Definitely wouldn't be as easy as the ad makes it look (it's why we own 19+ inch monitors).

I hope the library is varied & we get unique 3rd party games, like the GBA (favourite handheld).

Its just like i thought it would be.. A little better actually with the way you can play MP on the removable side controls.. Still, since it has a pro controller, im good.. People can get upset about the ports all they want but im buying it for exclusives..

Im really impressed with Nintendo finally. If that console handheld is as powerful as Xbox One at least I could definitely see myself getting it. I would hope games like COD or other 3rd party games become playable on it. It would be a stroke of genius for me to take console games with me everywhere now.
