ESPN has become weirdly politically correct and political in recent years. This never made sense to me, as sports fans don't really seem to fit into that demographic. Maybe that's changing though with millennials.

Not sure if ESPN is a sponsor in this case, but irrespective, there's something hypocritical about a sponsor or network wanting to profit from the endorsement of the competitive use of a product... but then having an issue with actually following through on the endorsement implied by their association.

If you aren't willing to endorse something by association maybe you, I dunno, shouldn't be looking to endorse it in the first place? Because at the end of the day the message that is sent by half-hearted moves likes this reads: "We wholeheartedly support this and condemn it at the same time, but please don't quote us on that." :S In essence, both people who want the product supported, and those that it condemned end up getting shrugged off by a sponsor that ultimately, doesn't actually care one way or the other.

I get the practical reasons for doing this. But let's not pretend this is a moral victory -- regardless of which side you are on, because it simply isn't.

They'll hype it up, show the cover, and reveal 90% of the pictures on all their dumb fucking talk shows before it's even released. I like how everyone conveniently forgets or glosses over the FACT that ESPN just recently had a special talking about their Body issue magazine, which I might add had basically full nudity with private parts covered but still basically naked and yet no one had a problem with that.

I really don't get the "outrage" but that is me.
