Paid for loot boxes that allow for say different characters/clothing etc ok, but this obnoxious type of loot box that makes you more powerful than others in multiplayer is all kinds of wrong.

It's not just the loot crates. The first game was nowhere near as fun as the original two Battlefronts. I love DICE, but they gave us a Star Wars skin.

Guys, it still reached nomber 2 spot behind CoDWW2 which has loot boxes as well. In fact, there are missions in coDWW2 to watch others open loot boxes. So, that is not good what so ever. At the wnd, it comes down to sales numbers. I think BF2 wilk sell a lot when the Last Jedi releases unfortunately.

This title is super misleading... the game still made #1 in total revenue, just #2 in physical sales. So that means a lot of people must have bought digital or the ones who bought the early deluxe edition spent a shit ton on MT's before DICE removed them. Either way they still made their #1 spot in revenue. So much for that fight :/

Despite the lower sales, it's still #2 (and the article says it was still #1 in revenue), beaten only by CoD WWII. Not much to celebrate here.

Besides the loot box controversy, other factors could also be affecting it: Lately most AAA sequels have apparently sold less than their predecessors (Watch_Dogs 2, Wolfenstein 2, Dishonored 2 didn't have as many sales as their predecessors in their first weeks or so I've heard); digital sales have increased in the last years and those are rarely included in sale figures; The Standard edition was released until Friday, perhaps BF2 would have sold more had it been released also on Tuesday, alongside the Elite edition?

The first Battlefront was released on Tuesday, which gave it a whole week to collect sales for the UK sales chart, and Battlefront 2 was released on Friday, leaving it only 1 day to collect sales. Maybe this explains it a bit.

I bought and played the game for a few days non-stop. The game seems to be built on encouraging loot boxes. It's such a grind to unlock things. It makes you feel like you need to buy loot boxes to save time. Its a shame because it is a fun game.

I wouldn't say it's a bad game as to why it's flopped as I'm sure the game is ace, more than anything I think it's a first in a stand against micros/loot boxes and I hope it happens with every other game that devs make at full retail price and decide to take the pee a bit to much..

I mean I played the beta and enjoyed it but I said no once they announced Microsoft and that's my stance from now on as I hope everyone else's is..
