Man Utd: David De Gea's move to Real Madrid off as paperwork late

David De Gea's £29m move from Manchester United to Real Madrid has collapsed because the necessary paperwork was not submitted in time.
No official announcement has yet been made by either club.

The story is too old to be commented.

Don't know what's worse, Madrid missing out on him or United losing out on £29 million.

De Gea is the real loser here though, doubt he'll be played much and not on the bumper contract Madrid was offering him.

Don't know MAN UTD are well versed in last minute deals and tend to go by the book ;), I'd say some Spanish complaisance is to blame here that easy way off life ey much like your building contracts :D.

Anyways here's United's Official say on the mater.

- It is our understanding that the deals couldn’t happen because:

Real Madrid didn’t upload David’s documents onto TMS in time (Manchester United did)

Real Madrid didn’t upload David’s documents to the Spanish league in time, per reports it seems some 28 minutes after the deadline

- The fact that Manchester United filed the papers on time was acknowledged by the Football Association, who offered to support that claim in any discussions with FIFA. The club offered this assistance, as well as its own timestamped documents to Real Madrid but they have chosen not to go down this route.

I think Madrid brought up the exact times when documents were sent back and forth, the very last document needed from ManU was sent at 12:00 leaving literally no time for real to review it, sign it, and submit it.

It wasn't sent back. it was sent to La Liga before the deadline. Real didn't send their paperwork to La Liga. Real didn't need MUFC to send them paper work as Real only needed united to sign and approve which they did by 00:00

thats not what the Real Madrid account of the story says. According to what they released, which was a timeframe of every interaction between the two, Real had to receive some sort of a response from United, which did they at 12:00 which literally left no time for them to submit their own things. If the reports are true that Real will have to pay 10Million pounds per year for De Gea's remaining contract with United, in case the deal didn't go through, then I don't see why Real would want to delay the process.

Personally, I don't know why Real wanted De Gea, they could just wait a year and get him for free.
