Spanish FA, FC Barcelona sanctioned for international transfers of minors

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned the Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF) and Spanish club FC Barcelona for breaches relating to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18.

FIFA has banned Barcelona from signing players for the next two transfer windows due to breaches relating to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18.

The story is too old to be commented.

I thought this was an April Fools joke but FIFA released an official statement. Serious problems for Barca if they cant overturn this.

Looooooooooool!!!

If this doesn't get lifted barca would be screwed.

KingPin3676d ago

lol and all the Barca fans were bragging about the academy and how Barca don't buy superstars.

asmith23063676d ago

To be fair, they don't really. Their best players are homegrown. Wasn't it you who said Barca got favouritism?

2 out of those top 3 forwards were bought in. Neymar & Alexis Sánchez.

Daniel Alves, Javier Mascherano & Alex Song, all 3 defensive players too.

This will hurt the massive, Puyol and Valdes on the out also. They need a keeper and two defenders minimum.

with respect to matches they do get favoured a lot. thats what i said, nice try twisting my words.

For the neymar deal, it took a barca fan to pull out the bullshiz, not FIFA/UEFA who had all the transfer papers and refused to give it to santos when requested(small wonder why. turning a blind eye perhaps?). so had that barca fan kept his mouth shut, everything would be fine and barcas boat would be sailing merrily along.

Compared to other teams such as, I don't know, Madrid, they don't buy as many superstars. But let me not even get into that... Pique, Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, Spain would be nothing without those guys.

RGB3675d ago

Pique has been average for a few seasons. Spain would only miss Iniesta and Xavi, yet have players like Isco, Mata & Silva that could fill that void now.

Barca could be in big trouble, no matter how you spin it. You've had massive defensive issues for years now and haven't bought when you needed to. You've probably lost that chance for a year now. Puyol gone, Pique and/or Javier are injured, who can Barca look too, Bartra? That's it, he's still highly inexperienced. How about Valdes going, Pinto isn't good enough for cup games, let alone a whole season of games.

Big issues, massive more like it.

@RGB, Pique, although being unfocused sometimes, is still one of Spain's best defenders. But you mention as if Mata or Isco would be able to do the 2010 Spanish team justice. Isco hasn't proven himself internationally imo, Mata is on his way to inconsistency if he's not there already. I only see Silva as a player that could fill that void.

As for Barca being in trouble, I know, I'm not spinning, they had plenty of time to bring in a defender and instead made a mess with Neymar and now we have a huge hole in our defense. As much as I love Barca there's not a big chance of them advancing much further in the CL due to these injuries and the higher ups making horrible decisions.

2 transfer windows, ouch, should've made those moves earlier.
