Raheem Sterling rejects ‘unacceptable’ £70,000-a-week new Liverpool contract

Raheem Sterling has apparently rejected the offer of a new £70,000-a-week contract at Liverpool, with the club not meeting his wage demands.

The story is too old to be commented.

Same story from his agent. Its always well Madrid are interested, even though RM are on record as saying they aren't. So another big club is mention- well ummm PSG is interested. They are doubling his salary for goodness sake, take the deal!

He's one of the biggest talents in Europe right now, and certainly one of Liverpool's best players, perhaps their best (Gerrard is far past his prime).

Do I believe 70,000 pounds a week is a lot of money for kicking a ball around? Of course, no question.

However, there are w whole lot of players right now in the PL, of MUCH lesser quality than Raheem, and certainly less important to their teams, who earn a lot more money than him.

So being one of the best players in the league, and being so important to his team and playing pretty much every match, I do feel he can hold out for a bigger pay check.

Gerrard earns 140 pounds a week, and he's far past his prime. Raheem is just as important as Sturridge as far as I'm concerned, so he could ask for a similar salary.

Yes I understand, I'm assuming LFC are uncomfortable with the idea of a 19 year old making so much. In fact I cant think of that many youth players that do.

Utd should make a sneaky £25m bid for him; Shaw's on £100k, Sterling could command that salary at a top club like Utd or Chelsea.

TBH, it's probably more to do with options than salary. He doesnt want to tie himself down for 5-6 years and end up like Suarez - being a world class player but not winning anything even at the age of 27/28- and possibly not even playing in the Champs League.
