Match report: Mainz 0 - 1 Hannover 96

Mainz relinquished second spot in the Bundesliga after a 1-0 defeat at home to 10-man Hannover tonight.
The defeat, sealed by a goal from Sergio Pinto just before half-time, was the third straight defeat for Thomas Tuchel's side, who started the campaign with seven straight wins.

Hannover had to play the final 20 minutes with 10 men after Steven Cherundolo was shown a red card, but they deservedly held on to all three points.

As a result, Mainz fell behind Bayer Leverkusen on goal difference to drop to their lowest league position of the season while Hannover leapt back into the top five.
