Andy Carroll has become the most expensive English player in the history of football after joining Liverpool from Newcastle in a £35 million deal.
Carroll, 22, was targeted by Liverpool as a replacement for Fernando Torres, who will join Chelsea in a deal worth up to £50 million.
That price tag is almost literally double what he is actually worth.

This is by no means confirmed but Andy Carroll supposedly text Newcastle fan and fanzine editor Steve Wraith to say, "I'm gutted to be leaving my home town club, i was told to go. I didn't want to leave that's why I signed a 5 year deal. I was pushed out of the door."
Suarez and Caroll would make a really good pair in the front.
