Soldado rejects Tottenham deal

Valencia striker Roberto Soldado says he has turned down a big-money offer from Tottenham Hotspur to stay at the La Liga club.

Spanish newspaper Superdeporte reported on Thursday morning that Los Che had rejected a €30 million bid from Spurs for their club captain, and the player later confirmed that an approach had been made.

Seems like Spurs are having a hard time getting a striker

crazyturkey4269d ago (Edited 4269d ago )

Well, I thought we had a hard time with the loss of RVP, but Spurs can't even sign anyone they need. Adebayor would be stupid to give up on his wages for more playing time at Spurs. Soldado wont be lured away from Valencia that easily, Saha is gone, Defoe is Defoe, Dos Santos and Modric want out. So they need a couple of strikers and a replacement for Modric at least.
Maybe they should try to get Carrol since from what I've heard, he is not a preference with the new Liverpool boss.

Gamer19824269d ago

Its because even footballers know Spurs have been punshing above their weight for eyars now and that was thanks to one man... Modric and everybody and his dog knows he's going so why would they want to go spurs? They would struggle for top 6 this season. However for the right price Adebyor still interested.

crazyturkey4268d ago

The transfer fee for Adebayor is not the problem for Spurs from what I've read. Its his high wage demands. Spurs don't want to pay him that much. So Adebayor can stay at City and just train and exercise and not much else and earn a lot of money. Or he could join Spurs and see his weekly earnings almost cut in half, but with lots of play time. It all depends on how much Ade loves football and money. So far I'd say money has the edge.

SJIND4269d ago

Well then, he apparently has no taste in football clubs, and is not good enough for...

RGB4267d ago (Edited 4267d ago )

What a retarded response.

At Valencia he gets in semi-finals regularly which can improve to finals (2008 Copa) and has a great chance of Champions League football every season.

You only win trophies at big money clubs in the UK. If you don't have Man United, Man City or Chelsea above your door you have no chance at winning anything these days unless it has mickymouse on it.

Valencia just won 2-0 against Spurs also without him.

Furthermore, he was born in Valencia. His youth / early senior career may have been developed at Madrid but he's from Valencia.

Valencia CF;
La Liga 6 - (twice in the modern era)
Copa del Rey 7 - (twice in the modern era)
Champions League finals (twice in the modern era)
UEFA Cup 1 - (modern era)

Tottenham Hotspur;
League Titles 2 - (1951 and 1961) No EPL.
FA Cup 8 - (Last in 1991, before EPL inception)
UEFA Cup 2 - (First Cup in 1972 and 1984)

Yeah, Valencia is a way bigger club. Valencia is 3rd in the all time La Liga table as well.

BelieveinGhosts4269d ago (Edited 4269d ago )

@SJIND, you have less football knowledge than a 6 year old American. Valencia is a much bigger club than Totenham and i am glad Soldado loves trophies more than money.
In this years champions league, Valencia is capable of beating any EPL team, even United who will win the EPL Title for sure.

Gamer19824269d ago

you are off your rocker mate! Valencia bigger than spurs..That's debatable but beating any team in the epl?? That's laughable! You are not much more than a championship side thanks to TV revenue in your country. You cannot afford a top team. You get battered off Barca and RM nearly every game unless your lucky. Every team outside the big 2 in Spain have 1-2 good players and the rest are championship quality.

The only reason they do so well in Europe is they put all there effort into it as thats there only real revenue. Unlike teams from England etc.. Who care about the league and play lesser sides.

Bitter English fans still bitter. Spanish football has been the best football for the best part of 8 years now. Deal with it.

Seasons from 2007 – 2012. Recent History.

2007-08 La Liga;

22 pts is the difference between 4th Atlético Madrid (64 pts) and 18th Real Zaragoza (42 pts).
- 22 pts between Champions League football and relegation.

2007-08 Premier League;

40 pts is the difference between 4th Liverpool (76 pts) and 18th Reading (36 pts).
- 40 pts between Champions League football and relegation.

La Liga is more competitive during the 2007-08 league seasons.

2008-09 La Liga;

25 pts is the difference between 4th Atlético Madrid (67 pts) and 18th Real Betis (42 pts).
- 25 pts between Champions League football and relegation.

2008-09 Premier League;

38 pts is the difference between 4th Arsenal (72 pts) and 18th Newcastle United (34 pts).
- 38 pts between Champions League football and relegation.

La Liga is more competitive during the 2008-09 league seasons.

2009-10 La Liga;

27 pts is the difference between 4th Sevilla (63 pts) and 18th Real Valladolid (36 pts).
- 27 pts between Champions League football and relegation.

2009-10 Premier League;

40 pts is the difference between 4th Tottenham Hotspur (70 pts) and 18th Burnley (30 pts).
- 40 pts between Champions League football and relegation.

La Liga is more competitive during the 2009-10 league seasons.

2010-11 La Liga;

19 pts is the difference between 4th Villarreal (62 pts) and 18th Deportivo La Coruña (43 pts).
- 19 pts between Champions League football and relegation.

2010-11 Premier League;

29 pts is the difference between 4th Arsenal (68 pts) and 18th Birmingham City (39 pts).
- 29 pts between Champions League football and relegation.

La Liga is more competitive during the 2010-11 league seasons.

2011-12 La Liga;

17 pts is the difference between 4th Málaga (58 pts) and 18th Villarreal (41 pts).
- 17 pts between Champions League football and relegation.

2011-12 Premier League;

33 pts is the difference between 4th Tottenham Hotspur (69 pts) and 18th Bolton Wanderers (36 pts).
- 33 pts between Champions League football and relegation.

La Liga is more competitive during the 2011-12 league seasons.

**Ignorance is bliss and also dumb. 5 seasons of football, 5 seasons of closer La Liga football. Just because Real Madrid and Barcelona are the best 2 teams in the world, doesn't mean La Liga isn't competitive. To the contrary, it's far more competitive then the Premier League has ever been.**

BelieveinGhosts4268d ago

You must either be drunk or high as a cloud. If neither of those apply to you, then you are simply a goat.

Valencia is a bigger club than Spurs
Liverpool is a Bigger club than Chelsea
Man United is a Bigger club than Man City
Arsenal is also a bigger club than Spurs or Chelsea.
Atletico madrid (aka Pathetico Madrid) is also a bigger club than Spurs.

Just like Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao are also Bigger clubs than Spurs.

Any reasonable football fan will consider History instead of recent success gained with the help of oil money.

And your last paragraph shows that you are deeply biased.
The Spanish Premiera la liga is the number 1 league in the world. Hype doesnt make you number 1 or David Haye would be the best Heavy weight boxer out there.
Keep listen to Redknap and Neville who hype up the epl because Sky gives them an Ultimatum which is, say epl is the best or you get sacked.

"The rest are championship quality... The only reason they do so well in Europe is they put all there effort into it"

Contradictory statement, they're championship quality yet beat EPL teams regularly because they put all effort into it. lol

I remember a time when people said relegation EPL sides could beat any La Liga team, including Real and Barca. How laughable is that when Spanish teams have won on more occasions when the two nations have meet. Ignorance is bliss but also dumb.
