'England aren't a threat' – Neymar

The Brazil international says he does not fear Roy Hodgson's team ahead of their friendly clash and also revealed he rejected offers from English sides before joining Barcelona

The story is too old to be commented.

Neymar with his big mouth only because Barce Bought him he think he is best

prove ur self then talk

This is hilarious. Neymar literally said the same exact thing before the friendly in the winter, and guess what happened? Brazil lost lol

buddymagoo4171d ago

It's funny he says that because Brazil have only won 1 of their last 6 games.

And England drew with the Republic of Ireland what of it? The brazilians have the pressure because they don't have qualifiers to figure things out. They have one more friendly against france and then onto the confederations cup.

England are years away from being a genuine threat. England are absolutely no threat in terms of competing to win the World cup in 2014.

But then to me, neither are Brazil. Brazil have host advantage and they will go further than England(if England actually qualify....), but they won't win it if they play the way they have been the past 2 years. The 2011 Copa America really showed them up.

This Brazil side is a far cry from the better Brazil teams they have put out in even the past decade.

There is a gap between England AND Brazil to the top sides, Neymar just imagines Brazil right now are better than they really are....

Regardless of how you feel about him, he's right. England are not a threat, and come competition time I would favour Brazil to do better any day of the week.

i don't think any team fear england as much as they used to.
they just aren't as competitive anymore. sure the english league is one of the toughest in the world, problem is, there aren't that many young englishmen playing in the big clubs within the league.
how many english players between 20-25 year olds do they have in the top four teams combined? i bet you its not nearly as much as spain, italy, brazil, germany, holland etc.
3/4 of the current english team are past their prime. germany had this exact same problem in the late 90s.

as for neymar, he is still young. that immaturity is still strong with this one. give him time to grow up.

Spot on. The reason the Premier League is strong is down to foreign owners and players, and it has a direct impact on the national side.

lol come on now, guys this england squad apart from what neymar used to say is nothing to some of the squads england used to churn out, 10-15 years ago non of these guys apart from MAYBE 1 or 2 would even fit in the XII for england.

I for one don't consider myself one of those who think neymar won't be any good.

I think he'll be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years. It'll be a while before he starts getting anywhere near the top echelon.

Under Hodgeson, England really aren't much of a threat other than set pieces. I wonder how many more embarrassing results it will take before the FA finally give old Woy the chop? He's worse than Mclaren.

And Neymar.. he can run his mouth as much as he wants but I can't wait for him to wake up and realize Messi will overshadow him at Barcelona and he ends up running back to comfortable Brazil with his head inbetween his playboy legs.

Tell us something we don't know Neymar. Btw, can anybody remember the last time England scored with a free kick? 2006 WC, Beckham for me.
