If anyone can upset the odds and win the CL it's Utd. When you think about it it's always the English teams that pull off the shock wins - Liverpool in 05, Chelsea a couple of years ago, Utd 2014?
But far too early for that - lets just wait and see what happens.
What this does is dispels the myth repeated by 'pundits' who blindly support Moyes that Utd's team isn't good enough. They've just drawn with the best team in the world. It's not perfect, but there is definite quality there that hasnt been acknowledged this season.
On the plus side English teams have an unusually good record at the Allianz (or whatever they call it in the CL since they cant us that name).
AN interesting stat: Infostrada Sports: Bayern have a PERFECT record after drawing the first leg away 1-1 in all European competitions, progressing 11 times out of 11.
BUT In all European Cups history, after drawing 1-1 in the first leg, the away team has progressed on 74.5%.
Agreed. I think it was Phil Jones who came out and said we deserve a lot of the blame for the teams performance this year. Its seems the narrative is the majority rests on Moyes back- obviously this team can rise to the occasion when it wants to. Dont get me wrong though some of Moyes tactics this year has been quite bizarre.
From wiki: From the quarter-finals onwards, the draw is entirely random, without association protection. The tournament uses the away goals rule: if the aggregate score of the two games is tied, then the team who scored more goals at their opponent's stadium advances.
Basically its not a single knockout tournament like in American sports. Except for the final of course.
well that was unexpected from united.
although Bayern hold the advantage with the away goal and the next game being in germany.
Good performance from Utd. Really shut Bayern out. Still can't understand why Moyes bought Fellani, gave the ball away all night.
great performance!
welbeck i don't know why he didn't just slot that in but a draw will have to do!
Can't wait for the next game!
Good performance by ManU! something their fans can be proud about. Still don't see why fellaini even got bought....
