Although he is set to play no further role in Chelsea’s remaining fixtures, goalkeeper Petr Cech has insisted that the Blues’ season should not be considered a failure if they finish the campaign without a piece of silverware to add to the Stamford Bridge trophy cabinet.
I disagree. Last season we finished like 15 points behind United, this season we're near the top (and if we had a striker like Suarez or Aguero the league would've been won long ago). Last season we didn't even make it past the group stages of the Champions League, this season we're in the semifinals (and hopefully progressing to the finals).
For once in a long time, we're starting next season with the same manager we started this season with, and it's a manager who has a plan for the foundation of the team (not just senselessly buying players anymore). We'll buy the players we need over the summer and also sell the ones that don't fit Mourinho's plan. I think being prepared for the next few seasons is of great importance, and one season without a trophy shouldn't be considered a failure.
