Growing tension between Messi and Luis Enrique

Lionel Messi's week at Barcelona has been dominated by how he was benched at the Anoeta and was not in attendance at the open-doors training session at the Miniestadi on Monday.

The story is too old to be commented.

You know what they say no player is bigger than the club. But this is Messi, that old saying goes out the window...

KingPin3397d ago

so you saying messi > barca?

how about no.
what has messi done that barca havent done without him before?
champions league? league? copa del rey? uefa super cup?

trying to keep one player happy could cause a divide among the rest of the squad and thats bad for the club.

I think he means that if someone is going to go it will be Enrique first.

Stringerbell3397d ago

@asmith2306 Pretty much. If Enrique cant deliver a champions league, league, copa del rey, or uefa super cup he's toast.

I wouldn't go that far.. I doubt Messi would dare go up to Puyol, look him in the eyes and say he's bigger than Barce. Having said that though, if there is a serious problem between Messi and Luis Enrique, the solution is pretty obvious.

I heard Neymar and Messi were given extra vacation days, whether they asked for it themselves I'm not sure, but if you start giving players special treatment, don't be surprised when they don't show up or are late to training.

Either way, not playing Messi and Neymar against Real Sociedad was incredibly stupid. Tata Martino was better imo, seems like we've gone from best to worst.

Messi is a player who wanted to "play in the middle" even when Barca had Ibrahimovic, we know how this ended

P.S it makes me wet to think of a Barcelona team, at thier peak, with Ibra.

"we know how this ended" - favorably for Barca!

Looking for serious in-depth info on Barcelona and Messi... through reading Marca - huge Madrid fan site...

KingPin3396d ago

you could read the same news through a site like goal.com and they pretty much say that same thing for a neutral website.

Barca are still 2nd in the league, the press escalating stories as always
