Bengaluru FC - Maziya S & RC Preview: Steelmen aim to give Green Boys the Blues

The reigning I-League champions Bengaluru FC will get their second taste of Asian football as they face Maldivian side Maziya Sports and Recreation Club (R & SC) in an Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) Cup tie at home on Tuesday evening.

The Steelmen head into this game on the back of thrashing at the hands of Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan and coach Westwood will seek his troops to eagerly put the mauling to backburner, as they seek a fresh challenge amongst Asia’s higher placed opposition. It’s imperative to remember that Bengaluru-based club’s last, and only, tryst with Asian continental football was a 2-1 defeat at the hands of East Bengal’s AFC Cup opponents Johor Darul Ta'zim of Malaysia. Maziya S& RC last participated in the 2013 AFC Cup, where they were knocked out in the group stages itself.

The story is too old to be commented.
