Manchester United’s pre-Christmas exit from the Champions League has perhaps understandably resulted in people questioning the position of Louis van Gaal as the club’s manager, but Ed Woodward should really be thrown under the spotlight, too, as United look to pinpoint where it has gone wrong for them over the past couple of years.
