Liverpool 1-3 Sevilla: Coke double secures a Europa League three-peat

Jurgen Klopp was left lamenting yet another final reverse as the Madrid-born midfielder put the Reds to the sword after the interval, with Gameiro also on target

The story is too old to be commented.

LFC will feel robbed after all those calls for a handball in the first half, but Sevilla owned the second. This victory cements Sevilla's dominance in this competition bravo to them and overall another top year for La Liga Clubs. Currently 25 points ahead of the Bundesliga coefficient wise, three years in a row of Liga Liga winning both the Europa and Champions League, the best league in the world without a doubt!

after the 1st half I knew the referee will not allow Liverpool to win even 1-0 up, do they check referees for betting connections? shame on UEFA letting them hustle their way to 3 cups, all officials to busy jockeying for position.

Sevilla had 3 goalkeepers, the 2nd uncalled handball is blatant, the Ref must have been looking at his phone, canceling a Liverpool goal for offside and giving an offside goal to Sevilla, giving fouls to Sevilla divers when the Liverpool players win the ball cleanly, the players felt it was impossible to play against the referee that's why they lost motivation, especially the young Moreno and Coutinho who lost control of the left side 80% of goals conceded this season are from their zone, Klopp solved the set piece problems but can only solve the left side problem with a new left back, they used to have a covering system for Moreno with Sakho and Hendo but they were both out, but if Liverpool had the goals they deserved from the 1st half they could have contained that weakness.

LaLiga has 3 of the best 4 teams in the world for sure, but the rest are nothing special, Sevilla got bulldozed in the 1st half and needed the referrer to be on their side.

Regardless of the horrible missed calls from the officials, Liverpool still went into the second half ahead it was their game to lose. As for the quality of La Liga clubs prior to this year the last 40 times La Liga teams have played EPL teams in the Champions, Europa and Supercup La Liga has 20 wins against 11 losses and 9 draws. The last 13 knockout situations La Liga is 12-1 v EPL sides with the non "Big 2" being 6-0. Since 09 La Liga has 13 International Trophies from 4 different clubs, England has Chelsea's UCL and Europa league wins and that's it. Add this to the fact that Sevilla has won all their accolades with budget of a Stoke or Swansea city. To me at least, I find this all impressive.

Absolute nonsense, Howard Webb agreed with every decision made, stop being a sore loser. The fact is, Liverpool dominated the 1st half from about 10 minutes in till the half time whistle. They failed to make anything of that dominance. If you have so much ball control, you better create chances upon chances.

Unai Emery is a genius, for how bad Sevilla were in the 1st 45, they were a completely different side in the 2nd 45 and starting it without any changes too, cements that. Everything Liverpool had done was undone in less than 30 seconds, after that, Sevilla could have won 5-1 it was that easy for them.

All 3 handballs were not that clear-cut, again Howard Webb, one of the best referees ever disagrees with you. Sturridge was clearly offside and made an attempt to play the ball, putting off the Sevilla goalkeeper, stop being foolish. As for Sevilla's goal, it wasn't offside and better yet, a Liverpool player made the pass to Coke so that was Liverpool just being poor defensively like they have been for years. Simple fact is, Liverpool should have done far more in the opening 45 and none of the refs decisions were clear-cut or costing. Sevilla took their chances, Liverpool bottled it.

La Liga is on another level, it's dominated the Champions League for the last 11 years, 6 titles. Europa League even more so with 7 in the same amount. Any of the top 3 would walk the Premier League and Sevilla would finish very well any season too. People forget the talent they've lost over the last 2 seasons, most teams would be relegated and to do it on such a tiny budget is testament to the clubs winning mentality, I'd argue it's on LCFC level of winning the league, doubt they'll win 3 major honours in a row like Sevilla too.
