Phil Jagielka is emerging as a surprise contender to gatecrash England's World Cup squad.
The fit-again Everton defender is being tipped to benefit from the injury woes of Joleon Lescott and Wes Brown, both of whom were previously thought to be near certainties to travel to South Africa this summer, and be named in England's 23-man squad as defensive cover.
