Arsenal's hierarchy has targeted Everton midfielder as a summer transfer target as manager Arsene Wenger continues to draw up contingency plans for the possible departure of Cesc Fabregas. Arteta, 28, is contracted through 2012 and it is thought that Everton are unwilling to sell. However, Wenger is confident that he can lure the Spanish midfielder to London with the promise of Champions League football.

Cesc won't leave. From what Cesc himself has said, from what Arsenal have said, nope he won't leave. I don't doubt he'll go to Barcelona eventually but not next season. I mean he's just bought a brand new house in St Albans near the Arsenal training ground. Thats not exactly something you'd do if you wanted to go to Spain next season
