Wilson Palacios is Barcelona's surprise choice to replace England-bound Yaya Toure, according to reports in Spain.
Midfielder Toure looks to be on his way out of the Nou Camp this summer, with a reunion with brother Kolo at Manchester City his most likely destination. Arsenal are also keen on a deal but the move is complicated by the negotiations over Cesc Fabregas's protracted transfer to the Spanish giants.
And Tottenham hard-man Palacios is the shock name on Barca boss Pep Guardiola's shopping list of Europe's top holding midfielders, which also includes long-term target Javier Mascherano of Liverpool.
