Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has not travelled with the team for their Europa League match at FC Utrecht.
The midfielder has been rested for Thursday's match, while defender Daniel Agger, who is thought to have a groin story, has also been left out.
Agger has been sent for an MRI scan and is a doubt for Sunday's Premier League game against Blackpool.
But Fernando Torres, who has only one goal for the Reds this term, will be in a 20-man squad in the Netherlands.
Paul Konchesky (hamstring) and Fabio Aurelio (Achilles tendon) are out but Dirk Kuyt is set to face his old club.
