The new Australia coach, Holger Osieck, led his side to victory on home soil in Sydney as David Carney's goal ensured the Socceroos downed Paraguay, 1-0.
The left-sider scored the only goal of the game in the 53rd minute, giving his side the lead in spectacular fashion. Carney took advantage of a cross which deflected off the back of Josh Kennedy to smash past the Paraguay goalkeeper, Diego Barreto.
