Michel Platini has sent his best wishes to Napoli and Argentina legend Diego Maradona.
UEFA president Michel Platini has retold the past and thought about the present as he hails Diego Maradona, who turns 50 on Saturday.
And the Frenchman has paid homage to the great legend of football - paying attention to his wonder goal against England when he beat six players to score at World Cup 1986 in Mexico - a goal landlocked in time.
"What would I steal from Maradona's talent? That famous goal he scored against England. It was a simply fantastic goal," he told ANSA.
"The best memory I have of his was the rivalry between Juventus and Napoli.
"I was often compared with Maradona by the Italian media, but there has also been a profound reciprocal respect that exists between us.
The best player ever in the world.
