Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson: Manchester City Are All Talk & No Silverware

Carlos Tevez poster was probably an 'advertising gimmick', says boss

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has taken a pop at Manchester City ahead of the derby game between the two sides, insisting that the Eastlands club talk big but have no significant silverware to back it up.

The last time that City won something was back in 1976, when they beat Newcastle United to win the League Cup.

In recent times, however, they have spent heavily in the transfer market since Sheikh Mansour's takeover, and are widely tipped to do well this season. And so far, they have managed to hold down a place in the top four, as manager Roberto Mancini previously admitted that achieving Champions League football is his target.

The story is too old to be commented.
