Hiddink: Man City and Liverpool wanted me

Former Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink claims he was approached by both Liverpool and Manchester City to take over as manager last summer.

While Liverpool were at that point without a manager due to Rafael Benitez's departure, City had publicly backed Roberto Mancini. City have come out to "strenuously deny" there was any approach for Hiddink, who took over as manager of Turkey in August.

I believe that Guus Hiddink had been a much better option than Hodgson. Too bad not Liverpool risked everything to get him because I do not think Hodgson has the skills to lift the club the way I want; Fighting for titels in the League and in Europe.

Hodgson is a mid-table club manager at best.

i prefer martin o'neil and yes hodgson is an average manager, he might have taken fulham to a cup final but they finished mid table.

karim4903d ago

Hiddink > O'neil although he's a very good manager

kulka4903d ago

yes Hidink would have been better but prefer Daglish over him

karim4903d ago

Danglish tactics would be too predictable

zico4903d ago

No, Daglish is to "old English". I don`t think he is "up to date": Football have changed since he was manager.

GJ234903d ago

I agree with this. He'd be using outdated tactics and would be too predictable

GJ234903d ago

Turkey must have offered a lot of money. Both Man City and liverpool need him

kulka4903d ago

get him as assistant so Daglish and Hidink as main coach Daglish would bring spirit back and hidink the results
