Bayern Munich influential midfielder Mark van Bommel has revealed he seeked permission from the club in order to train with the Netherlands squad prior to their upcoming clash with Turkey.
Van Bommel has been out of action with a knee injury for the past month, and wasn't called up by coach Louis van Gaal on the weekend against Nurnberg.
"It makes no sense to talk about things that do not matter," the 33-year-old told Ad.nl in an interview. "I'm fully fit and [Chief Karl-Heinz] Rummenigge, [president Uli] Hoeness and coach [Louis] van Gaal thought it was a good idea.
